I'm Scottish. The price of a few stamps is more than I'm prepared to pay! :-p
So am I.
I've never been fortunate enough to get one of these 'fines' but the local Asda have just introduced 50p charges for 2 hours. Might have to spend 2h 10mins in there next time.0 -
Malky,
Next time you're in Perth you might want to go to Morrisons, then to the retail park next door. Stay over 2 hours between them and let us know if Parking Lie try to count them as 1 car park.
I was there recently and tempted to try it myself.0 -
It's Town and Country down here in Edinburgh0

I have just received a G24 PCN with pictures. It seems someone parked my car and overstayed the 3 hour limit by a mere 25mins.... £70/£50 if payed early, the usual.
Now £70 pounds for 25 mins is the norm in central London! But in Coventry's Central 6 car park, it's a little excessive.
However, the photo has a time stamp showing the enter and leave time, amounting to 205 mins. So it comes down to not being incorrectly accused of going over the free amount, but more a case of the principle of not paying an excessive charge for parking.
I am in two minds whether to ignore or pay. I break easily under pressure and I'm not convincing when ,err, adjusting the information content of an answer to suit my needs
I could never be a spy ...
If they were to take me to court, and I lost, what kind of additional fees would I incur as result?
this forum is a life saver btw...0 -

It will not go to court, shall we say the entire industry in the last few days has erm.... blown all further chance of claims out of the window.
I beg you to ignore it, you can have a look around for the "S!!!!horpe" case, essentially the industry poked the hornets nest and set a rather unfortunate precedent for themselves.
Collect the letters, or file them in the circular file. The PPCs will deny that this case has occurred (must get their news from Teletext) but it's real, and their whole industry is about to collapse.

They are not going to take you to court. G24 never did that anyway. If you ignore then in any case they won't know who the driver was so they could not take ANYONE to court.
And last but far from least a recent landmark decision has ruled that parking companies have NO RIGHT to take anyone to court.
So, all in all, you are in a pretty healthy position!
Just treat the scammers with disdain and do not take any notice of them. They will go away when they realise they are not writing to a mug.0 -
Waste their time. Waste their money and always sign your letters 'Ivor Brayne'.

............and don't put a stamp on. But ignoring is good.0

If you respond you let them know theres a live fish on the end of the line, and so they will persist that bit longer.
Best is nothing. Then they';re just p*ssing in the dark.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0
