Virgin: Give me my money back

Hi,
Has anyone else had a problem with getting their money from Virgin after closing their account?
On 11 April my account with Virgin was closed. I'm sure of the date as my Sky Services were connected the day before, and one of Virgin's engineers collected the TV box and router the next day.
Because you pay for the line rental and services in advance I was nearly £40 in credit. Called their customer services last week to be told it takes 35 days for them to refund. I pointed out that from the 11 April it has been more than 35 days. They then insisted my account closed on 19 April, when I know this wasnt correct, but even so, it is still over 35 days.
I dont know why they have to hold onto people's money for over a month. If we were over a month late in our payments to them they would soon disconnect our services.
Whats going on Virgin. Give me my money back.

Be fair - they do give it back (unlike other SP#s who retain it until the customer has to beg for it). As long as you haven't changed address there should be no problem!0

I wont bore you with the catalogue of trouble I've had with Virgin following my husband's death and their insistence that the account be closed as it was in his name.
I only had phone line rental, phone package and broadband and the direct debit was taken so that it was paid two weeks in arrears and two weeks in advance.
I was dealing with Complaints Dept after writing to the CEO. My service finished on 14 March and I was told I would get the refund within 35 days. Allowing for working days only this took me to 2 May with no refund.
I had a letter on 16 April from their Billing & Collection Service Dept asking me to prove my identity. I called the person dealing with my case and told her because of all my dealings with them and how they had mishandled my case I did not expect to have to prove my identity. She apologised and said she would cancel the refund from Billing & Collection Service and authorise the refund herself which I would receive within 14 days. Counting Mon-Fri only that took me to 4 May and again no refund.
When I again queried it I was told an Emergency Payment request had to be set up which could take up to 28 days (they keep moving the goal post!) and the request was made on 18 April.
The cheque finally arrived on 28 May, 75 days from cease of service or counting Mon - Fri only then 52 days.
So you will get your money back eventually, just don't believe any time scales they give you!0
