Get your skates on if you haven’t already & you can use your ISA allowance for this & the next tax year in one go. The Barclays Protected FTSE plan is aimed at people looking for growth & capital protection. The minimum investment is £3,000. You can invest inside an ISA (mini or maxi) or direct without the ISA wrapper. It has 100% capital protection – this means as a minimum you get your initial investment back plus 100% of any return linked to the growth in the FTSE 100 when you invest for 5 years. Great peace of mind for anyone who had their fingers burnt in the past.
For those who have already used their ISA allowance or looking to invest more than their ISA allowance, a really good differentiator to most guaranteed equity bonds is any return is subject to capital gains tax. People can use their annual CGT allowance, currently £8200, and if you use this, gains from the growth will be totally tax free.
There’s still time to apply before the end of the tax year if you haven’t already. If you get your skates on you can use your ISA allowance for this & the next tax year in one go. As these products are a little more complicated that straight forward savings, it isn’t online.
Get a brochure from Barclays branches or call Barclays Financial Planning for a brochure/appointment with an Adviser 0800 4046156 Monday to Friday 9-5.
Not for everyone but the tax advantages are sound & the capital protection is sweet provided you don’t need to dash for your cash.

That 100% of FTSE can easily be beaten. Best I have seen is 130% but someone mentioned a 140% earlier.
I know you like pushing Barclays products yorkshire_ria but that isnt really a best buy. Barclays themselves offer the L&G product with 125% FTSE link.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
Can I just add that the "100% return linked to the growth of the FTSE " is a bit of a con, as the final level of the index is taken as an *average* of the last twelve months of the term. Not specific to this product, of course; most of them have a similar condition.0
