4 days self catering in great yarmouth. but with small budget spends

Options
hiya all.
of to great yarmouth for 4 days soon (sun hols), going to costa californai cliffs .lol. .
Now, we love great yarmouth but never been to park resorts before.

I tend to take some food wise etc anyway. but we only have 200 to take with us, and im trying to budget that for the 4 of us for the 4 days we are there.

We are 2 adults, and 2 kids (6 and 11 yrs).
we will be covering brekkie in caravan, either cereal fry up, beans on toast etc.,
lunch will be out either portion of chips, hot dog ..etc.
Evening meals, will be out somewhere nice and cheap thou.

Anyone know of any close by carverys etc,
just worried that the spending money wont be enough,
we will be limiting the boys on arcades, and taking the yard drinks with us, so that be cheaper etc aswell.
anymore tips, as like i said, never been to cali cliffs park resorts before please.

thankyou x
Im now a mum of 4 children. but dont know how to change my username.lol

Hi, been a few years since we were in Norfolk but we do holidays on a very tight budget and managed comfortably on £25 a day last year.

If you have got £50 a day then I suggest taking this out with you every day and making it clear to the kids that this has to last and has to pay for everything. Your kids are old enough to make this fun and my kids love having a say in what we spend our money on.

Do a supermarket shop before you go and take some food for self catering, include some treats, some nice crisps and snacks and some drinks for days out. Maybe buy a couple of bottles of wine and some bottles of beer to take with you. In my experience holiday parks are really expensive for food shopping so go prepared.

Maybe have a takeaway one night or fish and chips instead of eating out? Look on tripadvisor for local restaurants and get some ideas of places to eat. If you are going to a holiday park the kids wont need a lot of entertaining so at least that is covered.

Have a great time and hope the weather stays nice!

Hello there is an ASDA and TESCO in Yarmouth on the south outskirt, when you go and do your supermarket shop have a look at the feed a family chilled meal at TESCO you get a good meal for very little money. Scratby where you are staying is a great little spot.
Why pay full price when you may get it YS ;)

theres a Wetherspoons KFC McDoanlds and on the pier theres a place that does kids eat free as well. Also if you head towards the market there are stalls that do the most lovely chips in cones to eat as you go along

There is a Toby carvery in Gorelston which is very nice , wouldn't go to Spoons on Yarmouth seems full of pee heads when i have been in before even at 11am , there is also a Morrisons at Gorleston so kids eat free after 4pm(Mon-Fri) and they have specials on the adult meals , 2 fish and chip meals are £8 and you get 2 free kids meals , or 2 baked potato meals are £5 and kids still eat free :)

There are often BOGOF vouchers for Spudulike every year when we go on hols down there

You must go Strawberry picking on the main road near the camp site they are lovely from there :)

If you are struggling with spending money, wouldn't you be better doing picnic lunches and a few evening meals at the caravan - doesn't have to be anything fancy sort of stuff you bung in oven and leave and serve with a bit of salad/veg/ bread eg lasagne and leave eating out for just a special treat on one day?

There is a Crown Carvery at 57 Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, NR30 2EJ

Although I can't find it on their website ... so maybe that's erroneous.

You could take a little bucket barbecue and do meals by the caravan, that feels pretty festive and is cheap too.

We love GY and visit when we can. My main moneysaving tips would be:

    Pony sanctuary (FREE)
    Gorleston Beach
Yesterdays World (Before noon BOGOF so £7 for 2)
Bowling at the pier is only £1 each
Go to Tourist Info along beach and they booklets with vouchers
Fairground (Buy vouchers from Ebay for 99p for 2 for £10-unlimited use)
    Lovely Picnic places
Cones of delicious chips in town for 60p!
    2p machines on the pier
    GY seafront is nice
Crazy golf along the front (usually advertising deals)

We don't like Toby at GY as its always so grubby and busy.

If you're limited with funds, I wouldn't be wasting it on eating out TBH. You can buy cooked chickens for £4 or cheaper then add a bag of salad and some new potatoes, or there are some nice butchers for good quality burgers and sausages for a BBQ. There is a Poundland which does the disposable BBQ's and would be fine for what you need. You could save loads really.

there are none of the family chain type places to eat in Yarmouth, so no brewers fayre, table table, etc. only a toby carvery in gorleston and id advise booking a table it you want to go there, as the wait is usually an hour+

there is a wetherspoons, but i wouldnt say its family friendly

also no other places like pizza express and prezzo which usually have printable vouchers on here to bring the price down

the restaurants along the front are expensive for the type of food they are selling too

i think you will be better off eating onsite, getting takeaways, or just cooking for yourself
