npower bill for £3196.00

I doubt it very much, even for a year unless you have a huge place, have loads of things on standby and leave things on when not in use or run a business from there, even then £3196 is very high, should be more like £31 or less this time of the year.
What is the reading (even estimated) is it close to the last one, is it correct?
Have you just moved in, did you note readings, do you check bills even when estimated to make sure they are close to the current meter readings?
I would say go read the meter, go look at the last reading and then get straight on to your Utility company and say the reading is wrong, also if the reading seems right ask to have the meter checked!Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.0 -
Hmmm - n'power usually bill on a six monthly basis and there could half a dozen reasons as to why they have issued a bill for over £3K - Previous bills underestimated ? Mix up with Day & Night rates? Gas meter type incorrect?
I'm afraid we need to know more detail of your time in residency, heating system and what level your D/D's are at, to be able to assist0 -
sounds unlikely - unless someone is running a major drug farm from the premises

Does the bill actually suggest it to be for a month (or even a quarters) consumption or is there something more to the back ground of the story?
EG Have previous bills been actual or estimated?, Have you recently moved into the property (if so they may be billing last occupiers consumption) and have you / they notified Npower of closing & opening meter reads? How does the current meter reading compare with last & / or present bills - could it be there is some obvious error here? etc etc0 -
What are the start and end readings on the bill? Is the bill recalculated over a longer period based on its dates?
Have you had a meter change since the last bill but now been billed to a reading on the new meter but can't see the meter change removed and installed readings reflected?
We need more info to help.
You should raise a complaint once you know more because billing systems throw high bilks like this out for manual checking. So, it will have been checked but it can be poor quality control in that its not been checked properly, hence a complaint as high bills have attracted media attention over the years so suppliers should be tighter on it nowadays!:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Do you have storage heaters / imershian?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

It is about 35kW continuous, so that won't be the explanation.Do you have storage heaters / imershian?
It will either be a bad estimate or a correction arising from previous bad estimates over a long period.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

sounds like it could be a typical " dial " meter mess up on the 10,000 pointer.Suppliers are daft enough to churn out a bill like that when that pointer is mis-read0
