Buy a new one, Orange can sell you a refurb unit at a lower than new rate, it would have cost you a good near £150 in insurance anyway.0

do you have home insurance with personal possessions cover?0

Go to https://www.icloud.com and sign in and select the find my iPhone option.
Assuming it is turned on it will show it's current location. You can also make it display a message to the thief and remote wipe it.
Not sure if this will work if the thief has already factory reset it, however they shouldn't be able to do this if it had set a PIN or password on the lock screen.
ETA: I note you said that Orange have blocked it. This will probably only work now if the thief connects it to wifi.0 -
Orange should be sending you a replacement SIM card with your contract entitlements on it. It is then up to you to buy a replacement handset (secondhand?) so you can complete your contract.0

If I want to clam my remaining PAYG credit, I claim it - and this is different from a contract, not the same. Not really - unless you want to claim you remaining credit.
Why with a sim? I just buy a sim-free handset, get a replacement sim from my network and 'carry on as before'. And this is absolutely the same for PAYG and contract, especially after the OP "reported it to the police" and "orange have also blocked the phone".You just buy another handset which will come with a SIM, and carry on as before.
Yes, I can buy a PAYG handset is unlocked and cheaper, but it is not because I need a new sim to 'carry on'.0
