Aye my dad was 3 years retired. He was also pretty selective with his money too & i've never known anyone question things the way my dad used to ... so on that basis, i can't see how anyone would have him sign up to something that he didn't fully understand. He was worse than me on that one! Lol.

Just need to get this probate thing sorted now & then hopefully i can press my mum into getting a will drawn up.

Not too sure how you mean that tbh,

If your approach is the same as some sectors of MSE, then no - i couldn't care less if i'm written out of the will totally. I'm not out for grabbing. All i want is that their wishes are put down in writing. My dad had something written into his will that i didn't agree with, but we spoke about it before he died & i said ATEOTD it doesn't matter what anyone thinks - the final wishes should be carried out, end of story.

If my mum wasn't bothered, it'd be a different story, but i know she is & she has preferences as to how she would like things to go, so as a result & in light of what has happened with my dad (made a will) & her own dad (didn't make a will) i think it's pretty irresponsible taking no action (when you need to take action for your wishes to be acted on). That's just my opinion. Some will agree, some wont, but such is life.

    Just a joke - should have added:D!
I think making a will is an excellent idea because it makes life easier for those left behind.

Well funnily enough a letter came through from the solicitor today saying probate has been granted.

Some of the figures in the letter can't yet be explained. My mum & uncle need to go & sign more things. I know there's 17k in this AXA account & his current account had 9k in it, minus 3k for funeral expenses leaving 6k but this letter states 10k coming to us (the solicitor). My mum will have to find out when she goes & sees them.

    For this relief much thanks!
    10k coming to us
Better than a bang on the nose, as they say!
    Glad it's all over!
