Wifi and data charges in France

My son has gone to France and I was wondering if there is any charges on his contract.
If.
He picks up free wifi and uses whatsapp to contact home
He has turned his data roaming off, he has a Galaxy ace. Just wondered if we will see any charges on his contact?:)

    I'd switch mobile data off either to make sure, but even without this he is pretty safe in terms of the charges for mobile internet. Also it doesn't cost him anything to receive texts.

    You haven't actually said what contract he has ???

    I *suspect* that he won't get any *extra* charges on his contract if he's doing what you say.

    He is on a £18 mth contact in the uk with Mins text and data allowance. He will have to pay for all calls and texts and dadt from abroad.
