It's the Cirque du Soleil Michael Jackson thing at the O2 in London in October. I bought the tickets for my daughter and her husband - they were listed as Fast E-tickets - the definition of which was "immediately available and ready to download electronically". I paid a vastly inflated price for them - £267 for two x £68 tickets, and am now told they are being sold on through a third party who hasn't even had them from Ticketmaster yet! I think the whole thing is a huge con and there should be a law to stop this sort of false advertising ... or maybe there is? I was in touch with Seatwave again yesterday regarding the name on the ticket issue, and they have simply replied "do not worry, the card is not needed". Useless.
You will get in with those tickets.
Dont worry about it. Its not name checked for MJ Cirque de Solei

The only things I've heard of checking names on tickets to enter a venue is the Olympics and some other sport events. I've never been asked for ID for a music gig, apart from maybe iTunes festival, which were free and had a ballot to get them. I've been to countless gigs in the past 3 years. Maybe 100 or so, and none have them have asked me for my name when I was going in.0

I don't know what the end result of this one was and realise I'm resurrecting an old thread, but I just wanted to pitch in and say that it's perfectly possible they'll check photo ID for ticket holders at Blur's gigs.
I've been to several other gigs where they did the same, as an anti-touting measure. Most recently Jack White at The Forum, but also The White Stripes a few years back and Arctic Monkeys when they played Shepherd's Bush Empire.
Sure, it's not common, but it does happen - usually when big bands play small venues.
Having said that, I've always thought that if you looked vaguely like the person named and were able to take along their driving licence, you'd probably get in...0 -

I'd be annoyed if they asked for ID at gigs, because sometimes I meet people inside the venue, and if it's their name on the ticket as we buy em altogether, then that'll be annoying, trying to phone them to get them to the front door, especially if a support band's already on!0 -

Yeah, in my experience it tends to be very rare, and those gigs usually have other stringent rules too - usually you can only buy two tickets per person/0 -
Just spotted this thread and I went to one of the Blur gigs - they were doing strict checks but managed the queue very well I thought time wise.
I had to show my passport and bank card had my name on that was on my ticket.
Gather a few people got turned away who didn't have correct ID.
I do think they should have a returns option for this say through the box office as if you are ill and can't attend its not fair especially if it means others can't attend, maybe the option to alter the name on the tickets for an admin fee of £5?Sealed Pot Challenge number 8 Amount declared £365.50.
