I have a blackberry that is/was a company phone. I am keeping the phone and the number via a PUC code, whats the best option for getting the personal contract deal and how do I go about it?
It is currently with Vodafone

Mitch.

Hi, firstly it's a PAC ( Porting Authorisation Code ).

Secondly have you checked that a number supplied on a business contract can actually be transferred to a personal contract.

Thirdly, if it can, the easiest way is to take out a contract on any other network except Vodafone and then use the PAC.

For any other network, except Talkmobile, the phone may need unlocking.
Also, if it is possible to switch the old contract to PAYG first, then there would be no problem with taking a new sim-only contract with Vodafone and transferring the number internally from PAYG.

If it is a PAC rather than a PUC (different things, a PAC transfers your number to another provider, a PUC unlocks the code after multiple failed unlock attempts) then you take out a new contract, give the new carrier the PAC and wait a few days for your number to be transferred.

    Thats it.

The Blackberry will almost certainly be locked to Vodafone so you will either need to get it unlocked (from free to various cost) or get a new phone with your new contract.
