We bought a car on our credit card 7 months ago without a warranty for £2,800. Within 7 months weve had to be towed twice , both engine related problems the second time the engine seized and we had to buy a new engine do we have any rights to claim some money back either for car or for the work having to be done on the car???

What caused the engine to seize?0

It's amazing how people think buying on a CC automatically gives them the right to claim the money back at the drop of a hat.
You have had the car for 7 months, if it happened within a couple of weeks you MAY have a case to argue depending on various things, but 7 months is quite a longtime. You don't have a warrenty as you said so there is your answer. Unfortionatly.0 -
of course the OP could try putting on a pointed hat, buying an old cauldron at a boot sale and filling it with curs-ed things and see if this would help in their claim for constipation0

If you read the OP's post carefully enough, you should note that he says that the problems happened WITHIN 7 months. I think we need more info before making such comments.
Op, how long after you bought the car did the problems occur and did you notify the seller giving him opportunity to inspect and rectify?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -

not so
i merely pointed out that you were assuming things but then asked if supplying dealer had been contacted
to be honest the op doesnt deserve real help with a half story 7 months plus down the line
i think post 4 sums it up nicely0 -

Are you on drugs? I'm not 'assuming' anything!
I made a perfectly valid point about a comment apparently claiming that the OP had experienced the problem after 7 months of ownership when in fact he says 'within' the 7 months. I agree though, this is too vague to advise.
What I do not get is your criticism in me asking a valid and obvious question of whether the OP has contacted the seller about the problem. What's wrong in that?PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
