My New Car is not arriving as it was sold - advice please?

Evening all,

I have bought a brand new Vauxhall Antara Deisel Exclusiv Front Wheel Drive model which I have signed a credit agreeement for and is due to arrive 8th June.

Before placing the order I asked if my order would have front/rear parking sensors and cruise control (the biggest selling points for me) and was told via e-mail the car would be identical as the demonstrator car which had this and more.

The issue I face is it seems it only has rear parking sensors and does not include cruise control. I put this to the Vauxhall garage yesterday in an e-mail and phoned the sales woman I am dealing with today.

She said she wasnt sure and couldnt confirm until the car arrived (do they not get an itemised list when a car is ordered). Where do I stand, what can I do and what should I do?

On my credit agreement it says I have 14 days to cancel so can anyone offer me advice?

Appreciate it!

Didn't you get anything in writing?
The credit does not start until collecting the car (as I understand) the only thing you may have to fight for is your deposit back.

    Thanks guys!

My current car is deposit plus some cash I haven't gave yet. Nothing signed for apart from credit agreement.

Nothing in writing apart from couple of emails.

If its anything like the Tigra TT then all the works for cruise control will be on the car, the dealer can just fit the control stalk. I guess they could als0 fit front parking sensors so you may be OK on delivery.
I would go back and tell your saleswoman to go find someone that does know.

The dealer should be able to fit and activate the cruise control.

Surely the copy of the order form you were given lists the specific model, trim level, and any factory-ft optional extras?
The Antara Exclusiv FWD does not have either CC or parking sensors fitted as standard - it's the AWD that has those.

So you haven't given your old car or any cash as deposit -yet- and you haven't signed anything? -oh- except credit agreement, maybe someone with more knowledge on car sales than me can advise. sounds strange to me.

So there is almost no contract between you. check the car is how you want it to be before agreeing any paperwork.

Hope you got/get a good deal. I have never bought new but I imagine there is some room for negotiation on price.

If the car doesn't come with it, you might find it hard to install them afterwards

    Quoted for ease
Going to have a bit of a rant here. This could be the beginning of not being able to retrofit anything to new Vauxhalls. Some of what I say is what the dealers have told me and some will be my own opinions

Last week I had a 2012 Insignia in for front fog lights. The dealer supplied wiring diagrams fog lights and the switch and I spent the time fitting it all up running the wires from the BCM to the under bonnet fuse box then onto the new fogs. It didn't work so assumed it would need programming

The car goes back to vauxhall and they can't program it, they say the relay under the bonnet must be missing (not a serviceable part) so call me in again. I prove them wrong and power the fog lights through the relay, go through what i've done so they agree it's right so they plug into MDI (the new tech2 by the sounds of it) and try again

Anyway because MDI is internet based it sends the cars chassis number off so any programming you do can only be done as it left the factory. It doesn't matter that fog lights are a factory option, because they have been added after it's a modification and there for voids the warrenty. The stupid thing is MDI can see the fog lights being switched on and off in the BCM but just won't send the signal out

Maybe the same will be for cruise control on the Astra J? Just make sure if you want something on a car your buying to research if it can be added before you assume it

The person I'm dealing with wasn't in today but I emailed my concerns copying in their e-mail confirming before I placed order it would have everything.

Asked them what they will do if it doesn't arrive as promised and now I wait
