mot wheel rim dent
Comments

Book says....
a wheel badly damaged, distorted or cracked, or with a badly distorted bead rim
so I'd go for fail. Swap with the spare?0 -
If its dented that bad then the bead on the tyre is probably damaged aswell.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0
-
It should be failure, but do yourself a favour and never mind the MOT, have a smart, local independent have a look at it and get his opinion. He might be able to hammer it out and save the wheel/tyre for very little money.0
-
That'll do for me, thanks guys.0

description tells me rim is scrap and not repairable unless stuck in a desert with a mirage chasing you (ps its not really there of course)0
-
fairly big dent on the steel wheel rim I guess it is pushed inwards about an inch at its deepest part, spread out over a 4 - 6 inch area.
pass or fail? or discretionary
thanks
You really need to ask if that much damage is ok???
I tend to stay away from the "get all the checks done" advice, but whatever happened to cause wheel damage that bad you really do need to get the front suspension checked sharpish!
Oh, and change the wheel + throw that tyre away!0 -

i agree with everything but dumping the tyre
you will see if bead damaged once removed from the rim0 -

Agreed, but for someone who wonders if an inch deep dent in a steelie might be ok, probably better to play safe cos they're unlikely to notice if it starts bulging a little in a month or two - it was only a 1/2 inch blister after all0 -

A tyre and wheel shouldn't run that much, maybe raid a scrapyard?

Stupid me, I had a look today and it it is not an inch it just felt like an inch in my memory. it is actually dented in by about 5mm across a 3 inch rim area.0
