I hear people say that under flooring heating is expensive to run. But how expensive. Does anyone know?? I was thinking of having it in hall way and downstairs shower room (still to be built!).

It depends what you run it on.
Gas, LPG, oil, coal, wood, solar, geothermal, electricity? You will need to be more specific. The construction of your floors and the insulation levels of the house as a whole will also play a part.0 -
If you are thinking of electric UFH then it will be expensive to run - as are all electrical heating systems.
If you are thinking of a heat pump, then UFH is ideally suited as the low water temperatures required enable the heat pump to operate at higher efficiency. However heat pumps are very expensive to install and bring their own issues and problems.0
