Then I missed it more than once, more than once IYSWIM.
She has the correct answer now, just a pity she has not been back to get it.
With 5 month old twins & a partner that needs caring for I have to find the time to get onto the pc, but I'm here and I'm grateful for all the helpful answers
Not sure about some of them seems I've started a debate as to whether I should be claiming benefits! I can tell you now that both my partner & I would prefer to be working than to be claiming benefits but at the moment that's not possible0 -

He claims Income Support in his name by phoning 08000556688 today
option 1 new claims
option 1 again claiming due to illness or disability
Job done.0 -
He should have claimed IS for both of you from the start of all this. There was no need for you to claim JSA or to wait until 29 weeks for you to claim Income Support....
Were you working or not living together before you got pregnant?0 -

Were you working or not living together before you got pregnant?
We were living together and I tried throughout my pregnancy to find out what we could claim, we were passed from one dept. to another and in the end we were ringing daily but we were told I couldn't claim and that my partner couldn't claim because he was claiming incapacity benefit ~ to be honest it's been a complete nightmare!0 -

Sorry meant to add that I wasn't working as I was caring for my partner, I tried to claim carers but was refused because he's on the lower rate of dla ~ I've now been told we should try to get that changed to a higher rate??0 -
Ever since he was on IB and you were not working, and you don't hav savings
He could have claimed Income Support for both of you.
Trouble is you were badly advised by DWP staff by the sounds of it. But also there is a problem with forums like this one, including this one, a lot of them think you can no longer claim IS for illness or disability. Well, they are wrong, he can.
as to how much he will get, it will be £12 pw IS plus *I think* a disability premium of £43 pw
But it should theoretically have been the same when you claimed IS in your name, but you said it was £30pw now that was on last years rates but on last years rates I calculate you should have got about £50pw aswell or £52.90 to be more precise.
I was almost right, you should have got £52.80 when you were claiming & he should get £55.55 when he claims now.
But I think the DLA also has to be deducted off those figures which explains why you were on about £30 per week.0 -
Thanks for your help, I telephone a welfare rights place in our borough and they have said we should have been getting income support from when I was pregnant and that we've definitely been given the wrong information.
Trouble is every time we ring we get different information!0 -

This is incorrect, you could have gotten Income support ever since you have both lived together with no other income other than his IB and his DLA but the claim has to be in his name. Your being pregnant changes nothing.0 -
OMG more incorrect information! Maybe the benefits people & welfare rights people need retraining!0
