Confused about an entry on my statement...bank can't tell me (yet) what it is.

I was checking my online balance today and came across an entry on my statement that I've never seen before. I rang my bank and they can't tell me what it is yet either as it's a pending transaction.
All it says is "Prize Payment 3" as the entry and it's a BACS transfer for exactly £10.
I initially though it was a National Lottery win (as it's a credit to the account) but I checked the numbers and it isn't. I've no idea what it is, neither does my wife and until the transaction has gone through my bank don't have any more info than I do.
Any ideas what this might be? I've tried Googling an answer but it doesn't turn up any answers.

The other obvious option is 3 (the mobile company)?0

I do hope it isn't, as I've spent recent times telling them to stop ringing me at all hours of the day! To get entered into a competition they surely have to get past "Hello, is that Mr xxxxx, this is xxxxx from 3 mobile" before I hang up on them. Unless that enters you into a competition....If so I've entered a lot!
Besides which, neither my wife nor myself have ever had any dealings with them in the past so I'm not sure how they could have got my bank details. It was something I'd thought about though!
I'm waiting to see if all becomes clear tomorrow, maybe the entry will change to something more relevant? I've never seen anything like it on a statement in the past and having now exhausted all the potential avenues I thought it might be I'm still non the wiser!0 -
Hi,
could it be that someone has transferred money into your account. obvious i know but i mean a company or something like that
Margey0 -
I don't know Margey, that's the problem. It's not a bad problem to have as it's a credit rather than a debit, but I can't think for the life of me what it's for. If it were a refund on something it says who it's from and it doesn't in this case.
I've now spoken to everyone that's transfered money to my account recently to check it's not them and I'm still drawing blanks.
It's not that I'm losing much sleep over this, but I'd like to know where it's come from (so I can ask them for more!) :cool:0 -
Thanks j-g! That's cleared it up then! It must have been from a draw that wasn't last Saturday then, as the first thing I did was check the numbers off, I'll have to check previous draw numbers, it must be one of those!0

I don't understand how it can be the lottery, surely any win from playing online goes into your lottery account, and only goes to your bank account once you transfer it yourself. Unless there is some option that I've never noticed that makes payment direct to your account.0

It only goes to National Lottery accont if you pay from there - if you pay by Direct Debit then prize is paid straight back to bank account.
Hopefully (!) some of that £79M for tonight well do the same :P

If you check your online lottery account, you should see something relating to the win.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Well. I've done a bit of crosschecking.
The last time I won anything was the 23rd of this month. Having checked my bank it's clear that it didn't go straight in as it usually does. These entries always say 'Camelot Group PLC'. It does tie in with a £10 lottery win though, as it's the only £10 that's gone into my account since the 23rd. Even if it did go in later than it usually does...0 -
I stumbled across this thread after googling, I have the exact same thing, "prize payment 3" and a credit for exactly £10.
Not lottery here either.
Is your account with Halifax by any chance?0
