Wooohooo my patience has paid off. The FOS agreed I was mis-sold Ppi on the credit card :-)

Lloyds have until the 22nd of march to decide what they are going to do....

Well done, and funnily enough I have had similar responses on my complaints too :T

Well done on winning. And it's right, they are starting to play very dirty to avoid paying out.
We have had two decent cheques from Lloyds who admitted on both a loan and a credit card that they mis sold PPI. But suddenly on the next two similar claims, have started playing all sorts of tricks in the hope we give up, we will not. The first two successes were down to people on here encouraging us, and thanks to them we did get our money back. This gave us the confidence to try again. But find we are really being played around. Oh well, persevere etc..... Never give up and always at least try to see if the ombudsman can help you.

On another front, RBS have requested the same additional info several times, then come back after 10 weeks since original complaint went in and said they have now lost all the complaint details and files etc....A delay tactic obviously.Like I say, don't let them bully you down and stand firm.

"Delaying tactics" achieve nothing nowadays, it just makes it more likely you'll go to FOS which the Bank has to pay for win or lose. While it's true that Banks did routinely use delaying tactics deliberately prior to the court case, now there is no advantage to them.
Remember that despite your other PPI complaints being "similar", the reasons they were upheld are likely to have little to do with what you actually complained about. People often make weak complaints but they are successful because of other reasons the bank finds as part of their investigation. The Bank may even choose to auto-payout on smaller amounts rather than chance paying a larger FOS fee.

The payout rates for all the banks have not changed significantly recently, so saying they are suddenly playing "very dirty" based only on your own narrow experience is a little too generalised I fear.

The banks are simply swamped with complaints and the staff dealing with them are similarly stressed. Many are temporary workers and so genuine administrative errors of the type you describe in your post can and do happen. There is no delaying agenda, simply incompetence.

My mum had a very similar complaint with LTSB and was told the same.

She has complained to the FOS but was told it will take 6 months to decide.

A year to eighteen months is currently a more typical timescale I'm afraid.

I've been told 18-24 months in the last week or so.
