So I basically made a complaint about being mis sold ppi with a lloyds tsb credit card on the grounds that I was told if I didn't take ppi I would have probably been refused the card (this was when I was 18 and am proud to say I'm not quite as naive now)
So I received the decision letter today saying there is insufficient evident to prove this. I have of course just lodges a complaint with the FOS!!
I'm just wondering in the mean time, should I also write to lloyds with an appeal letter?? As the FOC say it can take up to 12 months for a decision....
Any advice would be great :-)

I'm also in a similar position with a loan. I was told it would be refused without PP so took it.
I'm interested to hear peoples thoughts.0 -

The problem with this being the primary complaint reason is that it's hearsay and cannot be proven. It's therefore an easy rejection for the lender.
Look here for other reasons which may apply

If you have evidence to support your complaint then supply it or you can go to the FOS and be prepared to supply them the evidence.I was told if I didn't take ppi I would have probably been refused the card
That is the weakest of all complaints and has a very low success rate. It is an unprovable allegation for most people. You are normally reliant on something else being wrong for that one to work.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Do you have a template letter to appeal being turned down for a PPI claim on a Lloyds credit card? The reasons above were only some of the reasons I made my claim and for my loans the claim was upheld, however me credit card claim was recently turned down. All were through Lloyds, so I was slightly surprised.
My rejection letter did not include the points about having the ability to pay through other means if I lost my job for some reason.
I had thought about not appealing but as they found my reasons valid for my loans I would have thought they were just as valid for their credit cards. I would have phoned but my bill was over £70 last month as I spent so much time on the phone to Lloyds and although it was worth it in the long run I've got better things to spend my money on.
Any help in directing me to a template letter would be greatly appreciated.

No. It would be near impossible to have a template letter for that as you are appealing individual circumstances and not a generic list of reasons which may or may not apply. My rejection letter did not include the points about having the ability to pay through other means if I lost my job for some reason.
Did you actually have sufficient means to repay via other means? That typically means in excesss of 6-12 months worth of earnings. If you did have that then why were you borrowing money via one of the most expensive means possible?I had thought about not appealing but as they found my reasons valid for my loans I would have thought they were just as valid for their credit cards.
Loans suffer single premium front loading with PPI and that is generally regarded as bad. Credit cards do not suffer that same problem. So, you get less credit card success than loans.
What actually were your complaint reasons and what evidence do you have to support them?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I have critical illness cover, death in service benefits, very good sickness cover, very high job security but good terms if redundancies occurred, never happened in the 17 years I worked.
They had a very strong selling tactic, easier to get a loan or card if you took out the cover etc, I was in fact under the impression it was compulsory, but didn't point out it wasn't always necessary, the reasons for rejection were basically there knowledge of their sales process and documentation and my sales documentation (I haven't seen this so am going to request a copy.0 -
I have critical illness cover, death in service benefits
Neither of these are relevant to PPI as they pay out in different circumstances.very good sickness cover
That might restrict the payout but you have not said what you mean by "very good" or whether that would restrict the policy paying out - both of which would have a bearing on the complaint.
That is not relevant as most people have "secure" jobs until they lose them.very high job security
Which means you have no way of assessing whether those terms, which will not be guaranteed, will be honoured.but good terms if redundancies occurred, never happened in the 17 years I worked. They had a very strong selling tactic, easier to get a loan or card if you took out the cover etc
So you say but we, or an Ombudsman, remain in the position that there is no evidence to support your assertion - consequently we cannot conclude that it is more likely than not to be true.0 -
I have a letter to my Mother from a company and they have addmitted adding PPI cover to all accounts many years ago and then say that they had instructed customers to contact them if they did not want it.
We submitted the claim form and they have come back saying they are not going to pay out but as a good gestior have subtracted £500 from her Bill.
What do you think i should do here? I feel i should appeal.
Thanks,

For small value complaints, a company will often reject the complaint where there is no evidence of wrongdoing but still pay out an amount to put you off going to the FOS. If you go to the FOS, then a fee becomes payable to the firm even if the firm wins the complaint. That fee is higher than £500. So, companies will frequently pay a goodwill payment as it is a cheaper option.
If your mum goes to the FOS, they can withdraw the £500 goodwill payment and if the FOS agree with the firm that there is no reason to uphold the complaint then she ends up with nothing. If they find there is an uphold reason then she could end up with more than £500.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Wooohooo my patience has paid off. The FOS agreed I was mis-sold Ppi on the credit card :-)
Lloyds have until the 22nd of march to decide what they are going to do....0
