Direct flights to Vancouver?

I want to fly from Manchester, but I can only find flights that connect usually from London - I'm presuming HR. Anyone know which airline goes from Manchester, if any. And cheapest way to book it.

Try http://www.canadianaffair.com/ for direct flights with Air Transat.

Why don't you consider flights to SEATTLE. It will be significantly cheaper saving you £200 pp and a Greyhound Bus only costs $25 Seattle to vancouver (120 miles) or a pleasant train journey for $35pp

From the Manchester Airport website it is only Transat who operate twice a week - Fridays and Saturdays

Yes, but the need to pass US Immigration and be finger-printed are significant disadvantages.

Maybe, but US Immigration takes a long time, and to me the process of being finger-printed is humiliating.

There is only Air Transat (Canadian Affair).

You are better of going via LHR (or a European hub) for choice, although Canadian Affair is cheapest.

I am off to Vancouver in August from Newcastle via Heathrow (BA) and I have found that flights to YVR are quite expensive.

In March I booked Newcastle - Vancouver - Los Angeles - Newcastle for just over £600pp (I am taking Amtrak to Seattle and internal flight to LAX paid separately)

The same flights today are £838 pp.

BA flights via LHR will be available from Manchester but I suspect that you may have to book earlier to get a better price, however, as VS will be (or already may have) flying this route, that may effect the price - but why do I have a feeling they will be very similar?

Looks like Airtransat then. If we fly to Seattle & then on to Vancuver , would we still need a US ESTA?

If you are FLYING into the US you will still need an ESTA as you would if entering by sea. This requirement also applies to passengers in transit to another country.

I will be flying into Vancouver, but crossing the Canadian/US border to get to Seattle by Amtrak (overland) so I won't need an ESTA.

Overland border crossings don't require an ESTA but passengers may have to fill in the I:94 form which used to be the procedure under the Visa Waiver Program for entry into the US prior to ESTA.
