Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th May 2012 . This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Off to work soon, hopefully not too many moany people, all this lovely weather & people get crabby.
Ham salad sarnies for hubby & salad for me in the packups. Tea tonight HM fish & chips.
I've opened the greenhouse so the plants don't fry, we have a few tomatoes on the plants, but they are very small & very green.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Good Morning H/H its another gorgeous morning here in north Kent and I'm going to try and nip to get a lettuce for the salads this week before the shops get too busy.I know the local MrTs opens at 6.00 so if I can get in and out quickly I will be happy and it will be another job crossed off my long list for today. When the weather is good I never mind how early I get up as I love to see the sun rise in the morning .Years ago before I retired it was one of the bonus's of getting up at 5 every morning for over 22 years for work.Whe I finally hung up my car keys nearly 17 years ago it took me nearly two years to get out of the habit of waking early I still often get up early ,especially when the weather is this good as I like to get as much done as possible then the rest of the day is mine to play with
I have a wash load to hang out from yesterday on the beach that I did last night when I got home so that will be out shortly. Then I'll pop out and get my salad bits for lunch and when I get back I'll have a quick breakfast then off to pick up the boys for school by 8.00.Once thats done I have to run my car into the garage for a good wash as its quite mucky. The local place does a 'pensioners 'wash for £8.00 instead of £10 on a Monday so thats me sorted then home in time to meet my friend who is coming down for the day and we will go to knitting club by 10.30.Busy day today and I get such a lot done before lunchtime even.
Hope everyone has a good day and <<hugs>> to those feeling down, poorly or blue
Cheers chums JackieO xx0 -

Hi All and those that follow!
To all you lot i seem to get up early but my time zone is 2 hours in advance--its 6,30uk time but 8,30 here.--i hate early starts!
This morning is going to be a leisurely one because i dont start work til 3pm. İ will go for a walk because i need to get my exercise as a part of my new regime. İ am still waiting for my exercise bike to arrive!i am on all sorts of herbal and diertary remedies for my cholesterol---plus no alcohol since last Thursday.
The weather is grey with a forcast of some rain---i wouldnt like to be an early holidaymaker to this country!--its warm though.
Does anyone do a NSD challenge because i am considering joining June's?!
Hugs to all those that need them -Gmfw'11 No68- 55k mortgage İO--little to nothing saved! i must do better.0 -
Good Grief!
Is this really me? Yep. And the WM is already on.
The sun is doing it's limbering up excercises so my sheets etc will be dry in no time.
Having hair cut at 10 so want to get last minute shopping in and a few phone calls made befroe then. Also, hopefully, a start made on sorting out my stuff for packing.
Then I will addresses on my envelopes ready for the postcards I send. I have discovered that if you put the cards into envelopes they get to their destination MUCH earlier. Usually from Greece cards take a couple of weeks at least, but in envelopes they take 3 days.it doesn't cost anymore and the cards get back before I do.
I must clear a bit of garden and put my runner bean plants in - DS has said he will come up and slosh a bit of water on them now and then. Hope they will survive.
Apart from that it is ironing, ironing, ironing and packing.
Food will be whatever morsels are feft in the fridge - probably cheese omelettes with strange bits of salad, 1 yogurt, a bit of stewed rhubarb and some manky cabbage. The cabbage will end up on the compost.
Good luck with your busy day JacquieO.

Morning all, lovely again here so good walk for me and Jack.Yesterday we took him for his first dip in the lake for this year, he loved it, he does a wonderful belly flop in but is a good swimmer. Off to school in a minute -only 3 days this week, we break up Wednesday!!!!!!!!!! DH will cook tonight and I'm off to patchwork club later. Hugs to all in need , good luck to all exam takers. Hope you have a wonderful holiday Monnagran and that you get all your chores done before you go. JackieO just reading your list makes me tired, you certainly cram a lot in your day. Have a good day all and enjoy the sun£180.00 in 'sistercas'fund
Hope is like the sun, which, as we journey toward it, casts the shadow of our burden behind us.

Morning everyone
Love and hugs to those that are having a hard/sad time at the moment x
Beautiful bright sunshine and very warm already again this morning. DH up and off to work stupid early.
Back to work today for me, I'm glad to get back to some sort of normality - whatever that is! Had a reasonably productive weekend, took part in the yard sales, got rid of quite a bit of stuff and made a profit - was so much easier and better to be able to sell from home and not have to pack the car get up at 4.30am to go to local car boot etc - myself and DH have decided that as it's an annual thing we'll definitely keep the weekend free for next year and do it again.
Didn't do a proper roast yesterday - did pork chops, roast pots, mash, carrots, broccolli, peas, yorkshires and gravy - menfolk not happy coz it wasn't a "proper" roast - told them if they wanted "proper" roast in this heat then they can get in the kitchen and cook it themselves!! Think they got the idea I wasn't too impressed!! Have managed to keep up to date with the washing, although there is some ironing, will see how today goes at work and if possible will get it done tonight when I get in. Have managed to do a rough menu plan so will try to stick to that - am going to try to make a roast pepper, red pesto and mozzarella tart - may make that tonight or tomorrow - but really needs to be eaten warm, menfolk are having fish, chips and beans/veg and I'm having fish, jacket and veg or maybe the roast pepper tart if I get chance to do it when I get in.
Workwise normally when it's this hot we're generally quite quiet but who knows - we're now in the holiday season so I know we've got at least one person off, so no doubt it'll be busy and we'll not have enough staff!! Typical!!
Remember the sunscreen if you're going to be out in the sun x
Hugs to those that want/need them, keep safe and well x

Morning all
Another glorious morning here although there thunder and showers forecast for later, although think they will be more up JackieOs part of Kent, according to the weather men anyway.
DD2s birthday today, first year she hasn't woken us at 6am for cards and pressies, mind you, no pressies this year as she's had money. She's been saving for two years for an IPad and bless her she's managed to save it all. We had takeaway at the weekend, her choice, so no special birthday tea to do this evening.
Managed to get a bit of sunstroke yesterday so spent all afternoon in bed, slept like a log and still went back to bed at 9pm and slept through.
Wm doing its stuff, I swept through and gave the floors a quick mop last night, sorted the fridge and worked out a rough plan of food for the week.
Off to DHs work medical assessment today, they've held his job open for 3 years now but they need to call time, understandably. He's stressed to the hilt so I expect he'll take some of his big knock out pills when we come back and spend the rest of the day in bed.
Planted out some peas, courgettes and lettuce last week, popped them in my little poly tunnel and they've all germinated really quickly, I know it's late but worth a try.
