This is the same problem that I have got. Have now discovered the update that won't install is a security update KB928366 Microsoft.Net Framework verison 1.1 service pack 1 - whatever that may be!
Each time I try to shut down, computer keeps trying to install update, but it just will not install. I have emailed Microsoft about it and will wait and see what they say.
No problem with automatic updates before this.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0 -
I had the same problem. I got round it by uninstalling the .net framework v1.1 completely to get rid of the update.
Computer still working OK as far as I can see.
If you also have the 2.0 and 3.0 versions, you should be OK.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -
Fingers crossed I seem to have resolved the problem. Managed to do a system restore back to a week ago and the horrid shield thing has disappeared. Have now switched off automatic updates and asked them to let me know when new updates are available and I can then decide if I want to download them.
Does anybody know if Security Update Microsoft.NET Framework version 1.1 Security Pack 1 is important? This is the one that caused all my problems because it just would not install. Number was KB928366 and appears to have caused problems to a lot of people.Stopped smoking 27/12/2007, but could start again at any time :eek:0
