Tractor parked in Residential area?

When I was at school we had someone who once they were 16 drove a tractor to school every day. Doing that he was able to get drive a year before every one else even if he could only go at 20mph.
As long as it's insured then road tax should be free, and it doesn't need a MOT it would still be legal. As far as I'm away the only place it isn't legal to drive a tractor is on a motorway.
Vehicles used solely for the purpose of agriculture, horticulture and forestry are exempt from vehicle tax

They need to display a valid tax disk, it just doesn't cost anything to the owner. Used to have a guy who drove a tractor to college for our first year, always looked silly amongst the 1litre small cars most of the students drove.0

How dare somebody park something that isn't a car near your house......
Judging my some of the recent threads on here (including somebody taking offence to a VAN being parked outside their house) I really do wonder.....
It's a bloody tractor, embrace it! Mixes the daily grind up a bit amongst the sea of Focuses and Golfs. At least whilst it's parked up near your house it's not on the road holding you up....... Maybe one in ten people should have a tractor or BETTER a traction engine (mmmm.... that smell) would certainly make the world a lot more interesting.
Ask the owner if you can have a ride, I've been assured they're an absolute hoot to go for a run in!0 -

Is this permitted in a residential area because I've never seen this one before?
I worked on farm for 5 years or so and used to do this a lot... park outside my house during lunch or overnight depending on where I was working the next day. None of the neighbours ever complained and I did always clear any mud I'd left on the lane after.
As far as the legality, it shouldn't be any problem parking it unless it causes an obstruction. We used to tax all our tractors at the post office in the same way as a car. Strictly speaking I was using red diesel for non agricultural purposes (i.e commuting), but telling tales to HMRC about this would be pretty small minded.Ask the owner if you can have a ride, I've been assured they're an absolute hoot to go for a run in!
Not if you're on the passenger seat and the driver goes down a pothole or verge at speed. Even in the new models with cab suspension etc the result is usually a nasty bang on the head as you bounce up onto the roof of the cab0 -
Odd thing to be parking up at night on a street; surprised it hasn't had bits robbed off it already.
My farming mates have two types of tractor, one, the ordinary thing you see covered in cowshit can only be used in the farm or something like 1 mile away from the farm and aren't taxed. (They have a disc but its free).
The other, newer, trendier fast-road tractors can go where they like, but are taxed a commercials.
Still too expensive for sitting around the streets at night with no protection.0
