One of our neighbours has actually got a large tractor parked outside their house on the road in a residential cul-de-sac. Thought I'd seen it all but this is a new one on me.

Is this permitted in a residential area because I've never seen this one before?

We get them occasionally by us, even seen them on the supermarket car park.

Is it there all the time?

    Is it a nuisance

    Does it cause an obstruction??

I'm not sure to be honest? I thought agricultural vehicles are exempt from VED?

Is it 'just visiting' or there more often, if it is taxed and park correctly, I really don't think you can do much about it.

But if it has red diesel in it and is not being used for 'farming' there could be an issue of fuel duty

Not really causing an obstruction as such. Just thought it odd to be parking something as big as that in a small cul-de-sac. It's just started to be parked there.

Only thing you can try is checking the house deeds or info from when the estate/development was built. Some have restrictions on what can be parked and where (though if it's completely off the road and on someone's drive/garden it's probably fine).

When I was at school we had someone who once they were 16 drove a tractor to school every day. Doing that he was able to get drive a year before every one else even if he could only go at 20mph.

As long as it's insured then road tax should be free, and it doesn't need a MOT it would still be legal. As far as I'm away the only place it isn't legal to drive a tractor is on a motorway.

I am pretty certain they can be driven @ 15. I did a tractor maintenance course at an agricultural college which was immense fun.
