Phone deleted - Halifax and Lloyds

A slightly weird thing happened.
I have accounts with Halifax and with Lloyds. When setting up a payment to a new person, it authenticates by phone (not by card reader, like e.g. Natwest and Nationwide).
I've done this before with both accounts, and indeed the payees I added are still there.
The other day I tried to add a new payee to Lloyds and to my surprise it said it had no contact number on record for me. No big deal though. Presumably some kind of glitch.
So I went to Halifax and it said the same thing! Huh??
I have not changed my phone number and I don't remember deleting it from the settings in either of these accounts.
Any possible explanation for this? If this had happened once I could handle it, just as some random glitch, but happening with two different banks at about the same time??

It happened to me once before with Lloyds, in the end I just went in and added them again but had to wait a week for the numbers to become active.0

I see that Halifax and Lloyds use a similar online banking interface and indeed Halifax is actually part of the Lloyds group. Still seems odd that it happened at the same time (or very close) with both. Did it happen to anyone else just recently?0 -
Happened to me with halifax I don't want to wait a week to transfering money0

Random thought - is it possible that the phone numbers expire after a certain period?0

Though Halifax and Lloyds TSB use the same internet banking software the two are independent. Much like we both use outlook but I can only see my emails but you cannot see mine and vice versa.0 -

Think it's only when you set up a new SO or Faster Payment. Your existing payments still go and don't need telephone authorisation as they have already been set up.0 -
Yep but recently upgrades my easycash to current which had all the payees which got deleted in the process so have to readd them0

Just a thought but could this be due to some cookie handling issue ?

Nope it's a database issue, clearing cookies won't affect your details held at the bank.0 -
Could it be that somebody from either Lloyds or Halifax has tried to contact you - and for some reason either the number was unobtainable or did not connect and the bank simply deleted them?0
