  • I was with my father in law in East Kilbride yesterday & did the exact same thing, displayed his disabled badge but did not buy a ticket because I thought disabled parking was free Received a ticket on my windscreen & when I checked signage at machine it said disabled parking had to be paid for. Came online today to pay fine & did a search for TCP & found this website .Now Idon't know what to do.
I was shoppng in East Kilbride yesterday with my 21 yr old son, who has cerebral palsy and in a wheelchair, and parked in the carpark at sainsbury's, i thought it was blue badge exempt so didn't get a ticket but my sons blue badge was on show, now i have a £70.00 parkng fine reduced to £40.00 if i pay within 14 days, if i'd known i had to pay then i would have, wot should i do???

What you do next depends on if the ticket you received was issued by the Council, or a private parking company. If it was issued by TCP as stated then you need to do nothing, ignore it. Presumably this was in a private car park ?

  • The Ticket was issued by TCP . In the shopping centre car park next to Sainsburys. My father in law is disabled & I was under the impression (wrongly)all disabled parking was free. I displayed his blue badge but I didn't buy a parking ticket. After shopping I went back to the car the ticket was on windscreen. I then checked sign at pay machine which said disabled parking had to be paid for

It is not a fine! It's a scam, which Supermarkets and other services/shops/occupiers with car parks 'allow' because they are duped into thinking these private parking companies (known as PPCs on this forum) actually help parking issues. The opposite is true and they cannot fine your dad!

What he must do is this:

Ignore it and you will just get the same letters we all do - and despite the 'debt collector' or 'solicitor' headings and bold lettering, threatening increasing charges, they really are very easy to ignore (as we all do!).

All the letters can be seen as picture previews, in the permanent info 'sticky' thread near the top of the parking forum. See my signature for the words to click on, in order to take a step back and see the whole current thread list (did you think this thread was the only one about the fake PCN scam? Oh no it isn't!!).

One click and you see all the current threads here. Third from the top, click on 'PPC letters & threats'.

    1. Watch the Watchdog clip on there, and then

    2. scroll down to the pics of TCP's threatograms, then

    3. Play a nice game of snap with each matching templated threatogram, then

    4. Tell your other friends & family about the fake PCN scam so they never pay one. Support your dad in this and make sure he understands it's a scam.

    HTH :)
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • AH, so private ticket on private land.

Ignore it, its completely unenforceable. Blue Badges and Disabled bays are only relevant on public land and roads, and policed by the Council and Police. On private land they have no legal force, as the ticket you were given also has no legal force, because it isnt a ticket, its an invoice inviting you to pay an illegal penalty charge that cant be enforced in court.

Just ignore it, theres nothing TCP can do, apart fro mtrying to scare you into paying by sending you a series of scary looking but completely toothless and legally void threatograms.

  • This carpark does not have anything to do with Sainsbury's the carpark services the whole of the Town Centre together with an other multi story car park at the bottom end, think they use barriers though, and as for the ticket l wouldn't pay it either i drive my elderly mother about and you should be wise to this even disable drivers have to pay for parking.

Yes the OP made a simple mistake that happens everyday in car parks up and down the country. But that still doesn't mean that tcp can penalise you, so the advice stays the same and that is to ignore this company.
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Like i said I wouldn'd pay the fine either, but i will pay to park their,my choice i have to take a wheelchair and an elderly mum out the car blue badge holders are not exempt from paying in private car parks,it can be different in public places, but these people are just out to collect money from you, just be aware thats all.. l once saw a Blue badge car getting a ticket the lady spoke to me asked if l'd payed i said yes, just give them an oppertunity and they will stick one on you and they aint very sympathetic towards you.Simple Mistake = Lesson learned
