Possible Default but in wrong year

in Credit cards
Hi, I was recently turned down for credit by my bank, when they have always given me pre approved offers (not that I've used them) in the past. Up until recently I had £20,000 sitting there pre approved! They (the bank) advised me to check my credit report and it has a default on it for a Virgin Media account which they show as me not paying in January 2005, this goes on as being no payments then in 2006 it shows as being paid for 3 months and then it goes back into unpaid befored they finally put it into default in June 2007.
Now I did have a Vigin Media account in 2005, but I don't have any knowledge of it not being paid, when I moved house as far as I was concerned I had paid it off. I most certainly didn't pay any money off of it in 2006.
What do I do about this? It is only for the sum of £121, but I don't 1)think I owe it and 2)I believe that the information they have reported is incorrect ( I didn't pay it in 2006)
I rang them and they said that it was the account at my old address and I said that I didn't owe it and she was really rude and said I did and that I had to pay them.
Is there any way that I can get this removed?

First they came for the crack users; but I said nothing. I was not a crack user. Then they came for the heroin users. But I said nothing - I was not a heroin user. Then they came for me. There was no one left to speak for me. (after Pastor Niemoller)

Sorry....but you reported the same problem back in April 2011 for a mobile account....is that the same story but a year later!!!! And what have you done about it since??? Considering that it is the same company Virgin Media....0

might be worth to make a complaint. I did with British Gas and now have my default removed0

Ring VM and ask them to investigate. I did exactly that and got it all sorted and default removed!0

On this note I think it's disgusting that they are able to report still AND that Experian have just started processing their data again. They are by far and away the most slack company at reporting data and have a very itchy default finger. Even when you have paid them off fully!0

did you return their box?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I'm getting no where wth this. Have never wanted credt until now. I don't think I returned the box so perhaps that was it? I've put another query in to Experian, suppose I'll just wait and see, when I rang they were less than helpful, just said that they were allowed to take over 2 years to put it into default?!! Is that true? Even if they are then surely they can't legally post incorrect information that I paid it in 2006?Wins 2009:Total : £2500 :jFirst they came for the crack users; but I said nothing. A lot of people have had the same problem. Virgin have cocked something up at their end so it should be fairly easy to have this removed. Call them if you've not already then get Experian or CreditExpert to battle on your behalf.

If you think the default is incorrect you can ask us to query it for you. Virgin Media has only recently started sharing full customer data with Experian.
