Sky Anytime plus, Are channels chargeable?

Hi, I just set up Sky Amytime plus for a relative by plugging the sky box into a router.

We now get anytime plus and I have successfully downloaded and watched a couple of programmes.

My question is, are some of the non Sky Store chargeable.

For instance, I don't have the History channel normally, but the Anytime plus listing shows some History channel programmes, and I have downloaded them.

Similarly, this Box doesn't have the Sky HD channel as it is only on the basic package but I appear to be able to download and watch some selected HD channel content from Anytime Plus.

Obviously the Sky Store programmes will be chargeable but, for instance, I am looking at Movies:most popular, and there are films showing such as Super 8, Thor etc, all from Sky Movies or Sky Movies HD. If I click on these films, will the bill payer be charged for a pay-per-view?

Final question, can I assume that in the event of any charge being required on Anytime plus, will it always ask for a PIN so that I can make sure that no chargeable content is accidentally downloaded?

The programmes you can download and watch on Anytime are dependent on the level of your Sky subscription. For example if you don't have the History channel as part of your package you can download history channel programmes but will not be able to view them.
You'll get an upgrade your subscription message.

Well that's the weird thing. Bill payer doesn't have History channel, just basic package but I downloaded a HC programme!

Seems I am able to download pretty much anything. Worried the bill payer will get extre charges on the bill now.

If it doesn't ask for a PIN, can I safely assume that the downloads are free?

You can download them but you will not be able to play them back.

Yep, you can download anything you like, but you'll just get the big blue screen if you don't subscribe to the channel it was originally broadcast on, just like if you try to watch the channel. Bit of a waste of bandwidth, but they want you to see all the wonderful things you are missing, and upgrade your subscription...

Anything from the Sky Store will cost you, but will ask you to confirm your pin firstly, just like box office.

Some downloads are chargeable, and It DOESNT always ask for the pin.. I know this for a fact as got stung over xmas where son watched rise of the planet of apes without being charged.. Sky refunded this, and are fully aware of this workround..

Keshavan: When you order it !direct by remote in that case it will ask for the pin, but when you order a box office Movie from Anytime+ it will not ask for the Pin code.
You: that sounds like a massive 'glitch' to me? since having younger children (very adept at using sky remotes).. there is the potential for inadvertant purchases to be made?
You: had there been a promt regarding such a charge then I would have been alerted and they no doubt would have watched something else.

You: and how would I proceed regarding refund \ receiving feedback \ management response on how this is resolved.. as ultimately pin less purchases is not something I want available via by remote control..
