Best Broadband in our post code

Hi there!
I am currently living in Stockwell but i (and the missus) are moving to Colliers Wood this coming June.
What i have done so far is checked how far is my post code with the exchange which is around 2-ish kilometres away.
But when i went to websites from my current provider TalkTalk, Virgin, Sky & BT i have been having mixed information as to the estimated speeds especially when i go to BT and an independent website simplifydigital.
All we want is telephone + broadband service. we can live with Freeview so i don't think we need an added TV package.
Any advice please on where to go and what is the best provider on my area?

Best, or cheapest, and how would you define best?
What does a samknows exchange search reveal as your LLU options? That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Best for means "best value" bundled landline+broadband similar to my current TalkTalk plan. when i checked the TT website they said they can give me the same speeds & service. (i have yet to ring them to confirm) But best value would not necessarily mean best in speeds. this for me is a priority. my current TT speed is 30MB MINIMUM.
When i entered the same post code to simplifydigital and BT it came out with varying speeds. from a slow of 6MB to a speedy 78MB. odd.
The other question i would like to ask as well is how long normally does it take to move or "transfer" service? Do i tell TT now or when everything is confirmed and finalised with the owner via the estate agent or at least a week before we move in?
please advice....0 -
If you are getting 30mbps then you must be on Fibre broadband, which I doubt is the case. How are you measuring this.
The BT estimates are for both ADSL and FTTC BT Infinity.
Could you confirm this?
Post your Samknows results.
Regarding the logistics, the easiest way would be to see if you can transfer your account to the new address.
Otherwise its just a matter of giving notice to your current ISP, their will probably be a £30 termination charge applied by BT Openreach. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
As far as i know TT has "unbundled" the lines and is a FTTC fibre optic broadband service. I am currently tied up with them for another 12 months but if TT is not able/prepared to relocate our labdline+bb service with the same speed then i'll just have to switch providers.
I do not know why relocating & switching services is such a hassle in this country.
And when do i tell TT that we are moving and would want to have ourphone+bb back as soon as? i don't want to wait for weeks waiting for a BT man to come to our house, re-set up everything again, etc.0 -
FTTC may not be available at the new address-in which case you will be paying a sizeable ETC to TT in order to go elsewhere. Without sight of your samknows results, no more meaningful advice can be given.
Typical lead time for a new line provision is 3-4 weeks, it depends if there is already a line in place at the new property. No free lunch, and no free laptop
