With regard to the bank details and the agency advising that they will reference check the bank. I used to work for a well known high street (very rubbish) bank as an account manager and received lots and lots of these types of requests asking such things as how long the account had been open, if it was run within it's credit limits and whether we thought the client was good for £x every month. We would have standard responses that we were able to give. So that is probably what that is for.

With regard to the post code. My house is in a street that has 85 houses in it, all covered by one post code.

You can't rely on Google Earth for the postcode. They will tell you its only a best guess.

You need the post office to tell you the exact postcode

yes it places my work post code in the completely wrong area.

No. This Estate Agent isn't dodgy. They are ALL dodgy. They sit alongside dead horse & donkey dealers and grave robbers in the pecking order of professions.

Now, that we have established the estate agent is NOT dodgy and the post code is real what i have next paid the remaining amount of money via bank transfer.

I was then emailed a copy of the tenancy agreement. it was only 5 pages long. is this expected? is this normal? are tenancy agreements not that long?
