Is Estate Agent dodgy?

Put the first part of the address in here.... http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder
and it will tell you the real postcode.
If it's different, it could by a typo from the Agent, or they could have been told the wrong postcode by the landlord, nothing necessarily sinister!0 -
Also, the actual post code of the property was incorrect. we only noticed it when we went home and checked Google Maps. the post code given to us was actually almost a block away from the actual property.
Mapping software will tend to take you to the centre of the postcode area, not to an exact property within that postcode.
Look for the street name on Zoopla, and see if the postcodes for sales in the street near to the target property match the one you've been given.
Use the Royal Mail postcode finder.
If both the above match....0 -
You've been to the property, right? So you know the address (or if no number on the house, you know the address of the houses either side....?
Use this address on royal mail's postcode finder. You cannot geti can't get any clear or consistent answer.0 -
the actual property is not a "new build" per se but a fully renovated bungalow. and it has a house number in the door. i've seen it.
Is that true that a certain post code can have at least 100 houses in it's "area"?0 -

You didn't think a postcode was unique to a house did you?
Someone has given you the Royal Mail link. Here it is again - just type the house number and street name in to check...

I would hate to rent property to the OP.0

It would appear that the post code was indeed correct as it is in the "catchment area" of the supposed adjacent street.0

Thanks for the update, been finding it difficult to sleep whilst this remained unanswered.0
