    Put the first part of the address in here.... http://www.royalmail.com/postcode-finder

    and it will tell you the real postcode.

    If it's different, it could by a typo from the Agent, or they could have been told the wrong postcode by the landlord, nothing necessarily sinister!

    Mapping software will tend to take you to the centre of the postcode area, not to an exact property within that postcode.

    Look for the street name on Zoopla, and see if the postcodes for sales in the street near to the target property match the one you've been given.

    Use the Royal Mail postcode finder.

    You've been to the property, right? So you know the address (or if no number on the house, you know the address of the houses either side....?

    Use this address on royal mail's postcode finder. You cannot get
    i can't get any clear or consistent answer.
    either it is there, or it is not. If not, is it a new build? Not yet allocated a RM address? Contact the council who allocate addresses and then advise RM.

    the actual property is not a "new build" per se but a fully renovated bungalow. and it has a house number in the door. i've seen it.

    Is that true that a certain post code can have at least 100 houses in it's "area"?

    You didn't think a postcode was unique to a house did you?

    It would appear that the post code was indeed correct as it is in the "catchment area" of the supposed adjacent street.
