But it seems she was incorrect, leaving the OP with unsuitable footwear.
Yes, I'm not disputing that she was incorrect.

All I am objecting to is the OP's assertion that the sales assistant "clearly lied" and did not just make a mistake.

It strikes me that with a medical condition such as this one would assume that a sales assistant in a shoe shop catering to the general market will have limited knowledge of such conditions.

As such the OP should take extra care and possibly restrict her choice of retail outlet where they profess to have some knowledge of such conditions.

(In most cases I assume an assistant in any shop knows less than me until they demonstrate otherwise)

Plantar Faciitis is a medical condition, as far as i know, Clarks don't claim to be able to supply footwear which will ease any medical condition. The salespeople in Clarks aren't podiatrists, they're salespeople.

OP, why don't you just take them back to the shop and ask them what they can do ?

I've had Plantar Fasciitis, but i wouldn't expect anyone other than a professional to recommend footwear.

I find it very unlikely that the sales assistant said "Yes, I know exactly what shoes are suitable for someone with Plantar Faciitis, these will be perfect for you and you won't find them uncomfortable at all".

I think what is much more likely is that you advised that the OP advised the sales assistant that they had problems with their feet, explained what these were and the sales assistant advised them what they though would be best for this. The sales assistant didn't lie nor were they necessarily mistaken. What works for some people doesn't work for others.

If you've got a medical condition then I really don't think that Clarks are the right people to be taking advice from. If the condition is that that bad them an Orthotist is probably the way to go.
