Clarks terrible service, help please

Hi, I went into a Clarks store the other day, I explained to the sales assistant I have Plantar Fasciitis, very painful soles of my feet and needed some sandals to wear now for work that would be suitable for this condition.
I got sold a pair and wore them all day the following day and they were uncomfortable, not suitable for my condition at all.

The sales assistant clearly lied to me, but Clarks head office have been most unhelpful.
I had one CS person respond to my email being very helpful saying of course we are happy to offer you a full refund. I emailed back accepting this but I then got another email off a different CS person
saying basically they'll do nothing, who was rather rude. I replied that I had just been offered a refund!
I then got a reply from the CS person saying they would refund me if the shoes are faulty etc and they need to inspect them, basically backtracking.
Can anyone advise me on this, clearly I will never buy from this company again!

The sales assistant clearly lied to me...
The only point I am going to make is that it is not at all clear to me that the sales assistant lied to you.

How do you arrive at that conclusion?

Is it not possible that the sales assistant just made a mistake?

Have you tried insoles for the shoes?

I don't think it can be claimed the SA lied to you and surely as the person with the condition your more likely to know what sort of sandals would be more comfortable for you than a shop assistant.

A little sneaky but could you not print out the first reply from Clarks and take that into the store with the sandals and receipt?
  • But surely IF the sales assistant wasn't knowledgeable to give me advice she should not have done so!

I brought the item on the information she provided me with, which was false.

Can't with sandals, tried but they won't sit right in them. :( I simply wanted a refund as I still have to purchase a pair of shoes for work as the ones clarks sold me were not what I was told they were, i.e suitable for my condition.

The sales assistant was friendly and very certain and confident in her comments so I believed she was telling the truth.

It's hardly lying, how is she supposed to know what will be comfortable for your feet?

I'm guessing she told you that they were very popular, very comfortable and most suited to you. That's not lying, its selling.

You know your own feet, she can't force you into thinking something fits nice if it doesn't!

The sales assistant didn't lie to you.

Presumably you tried the sandals on?

    You chose to buy them.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

    Correct.

That still doesn't mean she lied, does it?

It could be that she did actually believe what she told you, but was mistaken.
    That is not lying.

And maybe she believed she was telling the truth.

But it seems she was incorrect, leaving the OP with unsuitable footwear.

dancingdiva121, have you tried returning the sandals to the store, rather than contacting the main customer services?

Are you sure that its just the shoes arent suitable for your shape of foot. Its not like all shoes suitable for this condition will fit everybody.

In the same way not all shoes for normal feet are universal.
