Ing Mortgage - 'bargain' Or 'beware'?

Well, I've just this week completed my remortage to ING and I have no complaints...everything went really smoothly without any problems (and no fees!!!!):j
I would like to ask lee or anyone else who has completed a remortgage to ING about how quickly after your completion date you received your completion pack with the PIN etc.
Thanks!
My pin arrived today so that's after 10 days. All the other paperwork was received within a few days of completion.0 -
Hi again lee! Thanks for the info...
My completion with ING was on 2nd April. I received a letter on 7th April, dated the 2nd, saying that completion had happened. And today, another letter, dated 4th April, giving details of payments etc, together with my PIN in a letter dated 9th! Don't know where all these letters had been lurking...!
I wish that everything had arrived much more quickly as it was frustrating not to be able to check what was happening online since about 29th March.
At least it's all sorted now!:j0 -
I completed with ING Direct last week. From the application to completion the whole process was painless and smooth. Everything was done online and I got a call when it was completed. No fees to pay etc. The mortgate is variable rate. When I applied the rate was 5.14% which was very competetive but this went up later to 5.39%.
Overall, the entire experience was very professional. If you want a variable rate mortgage then this is recommeneded. No early repayment charges, by the way.0 -
I agree - a very easy remortgaging process!!0

I've just started an application with ING. At the credit-check stage, it was "referred to the underwriters", probably because they call me "self-employed". I'm flipping well not self-employed, as I keep telling them. I'm a regular salaried employee on the payroll of a ltd company; it's just that I happen to direct the company.
I know they're a bit choosy - i.e., nothing even slightly out of the ordinary like buy-to-let. Can anyone in my position describe their experiences with ING? I will be able to provide the 2 years' tax assessments they are asking for (form SA203 from HMRC, apparently). But are ING going to find further objections?
Thanks!0 -
ING DIRECT BEWARE:
Poor customer service, no call backs, and non-refund of survey charges when after 5 errors in the processing of our mortgage application (yes 5!) and the survey has not even taken place!
As with Stonk, above, my partner who is employed in a large comapny and has been for over 5 years (no she isn't a company director) - firslty wasn't added to our mortgage application, then she was but not as employed and now they inform me that we aren't selling our current house... Never speak to the same person twice, the superviser doesn't call back and each time I call them they find another error with their computer system.
We have decided to go back to our original mortgage supplier, but now find that due to an admin error ING Direct Credit checked us three times in 4 days - now delaying our new mortgage application with current supplier.
And we are not the only people to find that ING Direct have very poor customer service. After talking to our estate agent it turns out that quiet a few of his customers have had problems recently! It seems that unless your re-mortgageing they can make it very difficult!
Further update: Still no joy in getting money refunded to my account for the survey which will not be under-taken....0 -
I can confirm that ING Direct customer service is poor and procedures are very formulaic. If there is anything remotely unusual about your application you tend to find yourself in the bureaucratic long grass. It took me almost a week to get a Valuation Survey arranged. Each time ING said that an instruction had been sent to their surveyors (e-surv) I would ring e-surv the next day and find out that no such instruction had been received, and so back to ING....There was a glitch in the computer system and all that was required was for someone to override it with a phone call, which is what finally happened after I insisted on speaking to a supervisor, but I had to do all the trouble shooting myself.0

I have had absolutely no problems. Had a phone call today from their solicitors advising me that the requested redemption statement from Coventry BS had been received (the 2nd redemption statement as the 1st was sent by Coventry to ING when I completed the online application but because I had 8 weeks ING requested 2nd closer to my date which is 1st May)
ING have been efficient, both with me calling them and them calling me with queries or updates.
Their online application system worked a treat and was very easy to use. Maybe with complex issues a broker should be used but with my £50,000 loan with 8 years to run it was a breeze. No fees and no hassle!!
Note: They even had a menu to select a split for part “Repayment” and part “Interest” which was necessary in my case to pay off a short fall on an endowment.0 -
I agree with DoshSaver - my remortgaging from Coventry to ING Direct went extremely smoothly and efficiently. I guess with any big company there will be people with good and bad experiences...
So don't be put off if you're in the middle of (re)mortgaging with ING - I don't regret moving to them (although I do think that there's another rate rise on the way!).0
