£3 spent on sponsoring my cousins on their fun run. £17 left...2019 Aim: Save £10,000
Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now0 -
Hi everyone
I'm on AL today...lush!!! :j
Right, first post should be up to date, shout if I've missed anything please!
Apologies for my absence on sunday, but I have news...
I moved out on Saturday evening! A week early! Really random turn of events but also as I'm painting the room myself I'm getting a couple of days of rent free (which btw works out £14.80 per day inc. all bills, so happy days!).
It's a lovely big shared house, with a real mix of people, I think there's 7 or 8 people living here but you wouldn't know it at all!!! I've still only met 4 of the others and one is the live in landlady! It's a lovely quiet house, my room is really airy and sunny and I have a lovely en suite too. Most of the others work shifts, hence it's so quiet, which is great for kitchen use! Not that I've plucked up the courage to use it properly yet, but I'll get there!
One of the guys is fab, he's a Polish lorry driver and lives with his girlfriend in the garage conversion. He looks really scary, he's a big muscly baldy man, but he's the sweetest most lovely thing, last night I was sat outside reading (it's got a fabby garden with plenty of chairs and tables) and having a drink and he came and joined me for a bit and then informed me he was cooking spaghetti and did I want some. I said no as I had leftovers from Saturday's BBQ, but then later he poked his head out and asked if I had any allergies, so I told him no but I'm veggie, then I realised he had a knife, fork and placemat in his hands and was going to give me food anyway! Bless! Then he went and put it all away and returned with a side plate with some garlic bread on it and insisted I had that instead, he's so sweet! Then he and another guy who lives here, who's a computer programmer and younger than me but very sweet, they came out to eat with me, so it was really lovely! Then the Polish guy later said he's going to try and think of something vegetarian to cook me. I think I'm going to like it here. I ADORE my roomStill in the process of sorting it out though... I have A LOT of stuff, I'm such a hoarder... and this is after I've been decluttering!!!:rotfl:
Anywho, longwinded, but I only got the password for WiFi last night, hence I wasn't on yesterday., It's nice quick internet though, much better than at mum and dads out in the country!
So, spends this week are obviously going to be a little different than I'd previously thought, I've already had to buy a few bits as neither my room nor en suite had a bin, and a couple of cleaning bits for the bathroom. All the communal areas the landlady buys stuff for, so I on'y need to worry about my room and en suite. The only planned spend I have is that I'm out Friday night after work... I think this is going to be costly! £25 for taxi I'm guessing (sounds a lot but compare it to £70 that I used to get quoted to get back to parents!!!) And then drinks... getting nervous thinking about it! I've got a busy June and no blinking money...gah!
I don't get paid till thursday... I guess £70 will have to be my goal... not liking that!
Hope everyone's having a lovely day and that if you're in work it's not too hot and stuffy (my office is HIDEOUS!).
Sun 27 May: Bins, Washing tabs, dusters, toothpaste etc £6.84 (and that's only cuz I used a £5 Mr T voucher!) Costa £5.60, Bucks £2.85 - Total for day: £15.29
Mon 28 May: Breakfast, Bleach, biscuits £4.70
Total so far: £19.99 / £70

Sounds like you've got a really nice group of housemates out of the ones you have met so far!
I'm thinking of moving out as I will be moving to a different office for work, but they can't give me a date of when this will happen so I'm a bit in limbo. LUckily I live with my parents so don't need to give notice before I move.
So far, not bad with the spending. Was absolutely starving at work, so ended up getting a bag of crisps and some mints.
£1.10/£20 Will take extra food tomorrow as I think it's going to be a hungry week and I want to put anything I save towards my Holiday fund0 -

I've met another one now! But I went a bit shy so only really introduced myself and that was it!
Mum and dad helped me move down tons more stuff today - books and dvd's mostly, and my chest of drawers and bookcase (which I use for dvd's as I have too many books!). But the best thing was my dad put together my Arg0s value desk (£12, oh yeah!) so i'm sat at it now in my Arg0s value chair (£10, oh yeah!) which is very comfy and I feel very professional! I'm sure this will encourage me to get my OU work done when my new course starts in September!
I'm a bit hungry but there's at least 2 separate lots of cooking going on in the kitchen so I'll stay out for a bit! Should really be getting stuff in from the car but CBA!!! :rotfl:
No more spends today, I am fighting with the temptation to go out and buy something ready made, but am resisting so far... need to get used to sharing the kitchen with lots of others!
Hope everyone's had a nice day, I'm back to work tomorrow, boo

Ah LC, sounds like you have really fallen on your feet with your new room/ flatmates etc. You sound really happy and positive. I guess it could be so dreadful if people aren't friendly in an environment like that.
I have never shared/ lived with anyone other then family, and a boyfriend and now my hubby so have never experienced it.
Good luck with your spends this week LC.
I had a spend of £2.16/ £25 so far, havent heard from my friend yet, so not sure if we are meeting tomorrow or not yet.SPC 18 Target £200 /0 -

Thanks ETO and ladymay - I am comfortable here, I love my room so much, even more so now I have more of my familiar stuff in it  I can't believe I'm so settled either - I've never shared, only ever lived with mum and dad and on my own! Well, except for a bit in my old flat with the ex but we don't speak of that! Anyway, I thought it would be harder but I'm finding it ok so far... it shall remain to be seen if it continues this way, but I feel good about this!
unfortunately the big storage bags for my books are proving too hard to move about once they have books in, and I've broken one already... I'm going to have to invest in some of those underbed wheeled boxes I think. Grr, so much to spend and so little to spend with!
anywho, off to bedfordshire ready for my first commute the closest I've ever lived to the office! Happy days...bet I get in really early...
Night all,
