It makes me :rotfl: when people come up with this.
And you get a free phone, too, I expect.
And all you have to do is pay the mobile phone company every month.
Considering this is a money saving expert I am shocked at how many people actually use their landline.
That's because you have a very poor understanding of how to really save money.
Once you have a landline connection for your broadband, you can generally arrange that all your evening and weekend calls cost no extra. Daytime calls can be made via 1899 or similar for a flat fee of 5p per call.
Then use a nice cheap PAYGO phone for your mobile calls.Incidentally as I have stated in the past, when I did use my landline rarely I never got any of these types of calls. it is not a coincidence that I never used my landline number online or for any reason and therefore got no calls....
This I agree with. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Yeah, I get a free phone and a flat bill every month (peanuts) which includes everything. No extra cost. If I also use the landline (even if it is 1p per minute) then it is costing me more money.
I didn't realise this was rocket scioence to understand. For those of us who are never in the house watching Jexz Kylie during the day then landline is just a piece of useless plastic. I dont even have a telephone in the house!0 -

It isn't rocket science but you certainly haven't thought through the costing as it applies to different usage patterns.
It may be that if you're usage profile is a very large number of very short calls during the day or a large number (or long) of calls to mobile at any time, then using a contract mobile would be cost efficient.
However, for most people despite what they may think, it's unlikely that a contract mobile and no landline is cheaper than a normal landline and a PayGo mobile. There are two types of people in the world: Those that can extrapolate information.0 -

Not sure about "most" people. A lot of children seem to jabber away all the time on their mobile phones. As they mature they generally calm down a bit but you still get a few adults who seem to need to natter incessantly. If they are talking to similar types they may well be making a lot of mobile to mobile calls and this is where, as you admit, a contract might be cheaper.0 -
I am a pensioner and do have more time on my hands to do this but I have decided to have fun with cold callers. One way is to pretend to be deaf and have them shouting down the phone until their throats are sore or another is to pretend I cannot speak or understand English and accuse them of wanting information out of me in order to get me thrown out of the country. Another way is to ask them to spell out most of the words they are saying. Call me 'daft' but believe you me this takes out all the stress and venom I feel when I have call upon call and usually they take you off their computer.0

Every time these Threads crop up, they always seem to swiftly fill with people who take pride in making the day of people who already have a crap job worse.
I'm not sure what response you want. "LOL, they now have a sore throat!". Yes, excellent, a sound use of your time on earth.Union official.
