O2 Iphone Contract - can no longer afford
Hello,
I currently have 2 x Iphone 4s contract on O2 (£42 x 2 per month Direct Debit).
If I was to cancel both Direct Debits from my main bank account and take out a simplicity tariff or payg from my second bank account. Would or could O2 block my phone so I couldn't use it?

sorry made your bed u need to lie in it
they will chase u with debt copllectors and i believe they can now block phones0 -
I am about to enter a IVA because of illness and redundancy. If I could pay the contracts I would but I am financially crippled.
I just want to know can they block the phone?0 -
Are you thinking of selling them ?
Bit of a odd question.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
I think they are unlikely to block the handsets. Even more your are unlikely to get any contract on O2, including simplicity. Your "second bank account" will not help. Be prepared to PAYG for many years ahead.0

Maybe you should atleast try and talk to O2? They may be able to freeze it or something. Probably not but worth a try.0

These are pretty new contracts, why did you take them out in the first place, and why two?0

Your IVA might actually force O2 to terminate your contract whether you want them to or not. Check your T&Cs to discover what their response will be. At least you don;t have to worry about them trashing your credit file, as that will be done with the IVA regardless.0

If they are very new acc's then the O2 fraud dept might get involved, in which case there is a chance they might blacklist the phones (I know we do in some cases).
But as said above, that would be the least of your problems if you don't talk to them. The collection agents knocking on your door would be the more pressing concern. . .0 -
hi there, just to let you know i have had 2 contracts with o2 (not iphones though) after 12 months i was unable to pay for the rest of the 18month contract, so i stopped making the payments, i put a payg sim in both and they continued to work. its now gone to debt collectors where im looking to set up some kind of payment plan now our finances are a little better. however i do know other people who have done this and the phone has been blocked (orange i think)0
