Virgin Media Non-DD £5.00 Charge (WARNING)

I have had my internet access for years with NTL (No other services though) and always paid by Credit Card. Now that Virgin Media have taken over I have received a bill showing that I have been charged an extra £5.00 a month purely for paying by Credit Card. I had no notification that they were going to do this and am fuming.
In a news item yesterday it was announced that BT are going to charge £1.50 a month for NON-DD customers and at the same time they mentioned Virgin's £5.00 a month charge for any NON-DD customers.
I will be calling them tomorrow to demand a refund and an apology.
Many other NON-DD ex-NTL customers with several services may not have noticed this Virgin Media Rip-Off charge on their bills. If you are one of them contact Virgin Cancellation Dept Mon-Sat on 0800 0529403 and threaten to leave if you do not get a refund.

If you only had Broadband with NTL then there was no charge for paying by Credit Card, the charge kicked in if you were also paying for phone and other services. I have just spoken on the phone to Virgin/NTL and they have confirmed this. Until I received my first Virgin Media Bill dated 28th Feb I had never previously been charged for paying by Credit Card.
By the way "Normanmark", I check my bills every time before I file them, which is why I picked up the additional charge straight away.
Apparantly a booklet called something like "The boring bits" should have been sent to me detailing the changes in the terms and conditions. I failed to receive this, hence I only found out about it on my recent bill.
Virgin NTL have offered to refund me the £10 and I have now set up a DD. :j
The £5 a month NON-DD fee is a serious rip-off and like I said before there will be many people like me who have been charged this fee and are not aware of it. Lets face it, who is going to read a booklet with small print entitled "The boring bits".
I am sure that we will soon hear from other Old NTL NON-DD customers who have experienced the same thing. I would advise them to call the NTL/Virgin Accounts Dept on the Freephone No. of 0800 0522620,you will still have to wait about 30 minutes in a queue, but at least you will not be paying their extortionate 0845 premium rate.

If they announced this in December where did they publicise this, because they did not tell me?
When did they say it would start?
The guy I spoke to in the NTL/Virgin accounts department told me that the charge had been announced in their "Boring Bits" book, which was sent out in February and that the charge commenced in Feb 2007.IF THIS POST HAS BEEN HELPFUL - PLEASE CLICK ON THANKS :j0 -
