Cancelling LoveFilm Account

Hi everyone

I signed up back in March time through groupon for the £9.99 for 6 months streaming deal.

Now I've noticed that our deal comes to a close next month and NO way am I paying the full cost for the package as our usage doesn't warrant it.

Has anyone called up LoveFilm when they want to cancel and managed to negotiate a discount on the charge?

They tend to offer discounts on their packages that include DVD rental but I haven't heard of them offering them on the 4.99 a month streaming option because there isn't much lower that they can go. It might be worth a try as they may give you a lower option for a month or two but I doubt they'd do it permanently.

You can terminate from your My Account page, and you can do this for the physical rental discs service as well as streaming. No need to phone them.

Really? When I click on the "How to cancel my account" link all I get is a page that says:

To cancel your account, please call FREE of charge on 0800 091 1514

You definitely USED to be able to cancel online. I know because that's how I cancelled mt Lovefilm account.

You could cancel on line when their call center was closed. Suggest you try late at night and see if option was there ~thats what I did couple of years ago

i have been trying to cancel my account for almost 2 years as lovefilm has been taking money from my account everyweek when i had only signed up for the 30 day free trial i was told no money would be taken from my account unless i agreed i wanted to stay with them but i never agreed to this

I guess you haven't been trying that hard then, it took me all of 5 minutes to cancel last week.

You can still cancel online when the call centre is closed (usually between 11pm and around 8am from memory). At othertimes it directs you to the call centre number so that they can try to convince you to stay.

I can confirm that this is true. I canceled online, got a couple of "are you sure?" e-mails but the service stopped as expected and no further money taken.

Troll? Everyweek - how many packages did you "trial"?
