I have just tried phoning All About Prizes (AAP's) and received a message to say,"this number is not accepting calls at present." I've tried every 15 minutes and received the same message. I have been onto my bank and they've put a monitor on my account and said if AAP's try making any further withdrawals from my account they will get it refunded. I personally think we should, as an extremely disgruntled group club together and take legal action. A friend of mine is a litigation expert and I'm sure he'd be very willing to help. Also I think we should go to the National Press to make others aware of this company's deceitful business.

Hi There, i totally agree with this. I have also become victim to this company and am researching into how I can expose them. I cant believe the amount of people on the web (a lot of them very intelligent) that have been scammed by this company. My daughter was approached via facebook... how are they getting away with this - by the way legally you dont have any time to cancel if you read the statement line by line, it says that as soon as the first payment is received then you are bound by the contract...... am unsure if this is legal or not.

Have you checked your bank? I would be pleased if you would let me know how you get on here as It looks as though I am going to have to close down my bank account and open one elsewhere, although my bank said they will try and retrieve the amounts for me... I may get on a plane to copengagen!

i am in the exact same predicament.. they have taken £29.00 TWICE as well as their 50p and barclays were useless and couldnt help after nearly 45 mins on the phone... !

Hi there, did you get this resolved? I am researching into this company and would be interested to know how you got on as I too have fallen victim to the 50p scam... when will we learn lol.............i too am with Barclays and they were pretty good when I explained that I was not aware of the £29 fees and that I tried to cancel the minute i realised that the 50p had left my account.
  • Well, this sounds interesting... Makes me feel better Im not the only fool who fell for their misleading concept! I subscribed as well and fully aware that I have to cancel before the trial ends which I did and followed their T&C. I subscribed on the 7/8/2012 and cancelled the account on the 17/08/2012 and they still took £29 off my account! Needless to say I was not happy about it and contacted them through email! this is the reply I got:

    Hello,

You have accepted to receive a razor which has been sent to you on the 14/08/2012 and a 14 day free trial period at AllAboutPrizes.

You signed up on the 07/08/2012.

As soon as you sign up you receive an order confirmation by email with all your details ( log in details, userID, transaction no etc ... ), how to log in and how to cancel your membership.

I can see that you are an active member of our service. After the 14 days trial which you signed up for, you’re surpassed into a normal membership which costs £ 29 per month, in accordance with our general terms

This is why you have been charged. The refund is not possible. If you wish to cancel your subscription please login to your personal account and do so:

I don't know what else to do and I told them to cancel my membership as well but to no avail.. Is there a body out there or an organisation that can help me??
  • I was able to get in touch with the company via email, I told them that I attempted to cancel the membership three times but to no avail. they have now cancelled the membership but did not give me a refund. So I contacted my bank and told them the situation, my bank has put the money back into my account and will investigate on the company. The bank also said that the company may take some more transactions from my account as I have supplied them with my bank details so they will monitor my account and make sure nothing of the sort happens again...

    Im so relieved!
  • Hi
I managed to get in touch with them by phone yesterday, and they have cancelled - she said that they will only take the 50p and nothing more.. i have checked with the bank and they say that this is the case but they cant yet tell if AAP have cancelled - i suspect i havent heard the last of this!!!! i did get an emai today confirming the cancellation from AAP and having spoken to my bank they have put a block on any further payments and say if they do try and gain further £29 the bank will reclaim it back from them...... I have spoken to a solicitor friend of mine who has read the contract and said that actually they are not breaking any rules by taking the first payment of £29 as they state that the payment becomes payable when you start using the subscription (within 14 days or from day one is what they dont say!!!). The company should however cancel and not be able to take any further payments. Unfortunately as we are lone voices so to speak and there are prob hundreds out there who are too scared to speak up (probably feel a fool like i did!) then they are getting away with it.. plus they are not based in the UK and apparently Netherlands have very different rules to us regarding advertising etc... get your bank to stop payments or better still if everybody changed their bank accounts (know that it is a pain) then they will not be able to take any money from anybody... anybody who reads this DO NOT GIVE ANYBODY YOUR BANK DETAILS and pay cash if you can!!!
    Keep in touch x
