The roast pork dinner went well yesterday. It was very nice, even if I say so myself. I don't think OH actually tastes his food (it's always gone within 5 seconds flat), so he isn't the best judge - but I liked it anyway.
I've got 3 days left with my car
. I am excited about getting a new one, but I will miss my current one. I've got quite attached to it. Still, if the new one is as economical as it's supposed to be, I will love that even more
. I've got just under 40 miles left in my current one. I'm really hoping it's going to last.

Hi everyone

Starting a new diary - probably a bit controversially. People who have followed me generally tend to say that I shouldn't try and clear my debts, or I should go bankrupt, or think that I lack the capability to clear my debts (and I know when people say that, they are just thinking of me :A).
Yes, I do have an illness, but I am still young and my health is not that bad just yet. I really don't see that my illness should be used as an excuse to not pay back what I have borrowed. I have always believed that I got myself into this mess, and I should get myself back out again.
I sat down and calculated my debts yesterday and it really did shock me as to how much I owed. These debts have been hanging around for so long now. I did really well around 6 years ago and cleared quite a bit in a few months, but then my dad and nephew died and I became ill because of that, so the debt clearing kind of stopped.
Since then I have stalled and stalled and stalled paying back what I owe. I guess I am starting this diary because I don't want to look back in 6 years time and think 'if only I had carried on, I would be debt free by now' (which is how I feel at the moment).
I feel that 6 years is a realistic timescale (£7k a year) and I think that I could achieve that target without running myself into the ground and making myself ill.
So, my first target is by the end of May 2013, my debt will stand at £35k or less.
A little about me, I'm 31 from 'down south' (said in a nice southern accent), I live with my OH (no joint debts, although he has enough of his own), I'm self-employed (helps with my health) and I love a good movie
.

I've just read all the way through,
I too, am self employed because i don't manage well with work - just starting out though so trying to make ends meat.
I also have an illness which means i can be fine and ultra productive one day .. and then really slow and rubbish another!
Anyway, reading your diary has prompted me to get back on mine and actually work out how much i owe now. I sold up recently and moved into rented accomodation - and we managed to pay off a bit but no where near what we would have liked. I've been burying my head in the sand because i didn't want to know, but I've been losing sleep over it so I need to take the bull by the horns now.
Thanks for the kick up the bum!!

You're welcome - maybe you can come on here and give me a kick up the bum when I need it. I'll pop over to your diary later and subscribe.
Illnesses suck big time. I would love to have a day where I didn't have to take a tablet, didn't have to inhale salt water (:p) and could just generally experience how healthy people feel all the time. I always think even on my best day, other people probably still feel 50% better than I do.
Good luck with the self-employment thing. I've been doing it for a couple of years now and would hate to go back to a 'normal' job. I don't miss the !!!!!ing and the office politics at all .

Hi Sista
- thanks for popping by.
Love your username and your avatar by the way (can't look at a Gremlin without thinking of Roger Federer though - seriously, put them side by side and they look the same
).
I'm off to hunt out your diary and subscribe

My sister trapped my finger in my nephew's highchair. It flaming well hurt. I've got two blood blisters on my finger now
. Had to leave the room so I could freely swear away from my niece
.
Just ordered a couple of Barry M Magnetic nail varnishes from Amazon after seeing them on Unixgirl's diary. I got them for free with my survey vouchers and my sister is going to give me £5 for one of them, so have technically made a fiver
