Of all life's annoyances this is one that hardly bothers me.

I just say no thank you or give them a couple of quid whilst declining DD sign up.

    Takes literally seconds.

I have the same attitude to it - as long as they do take 'no' for an answer and don't stand on my doorstep trying to persuade me to donate.

If someone can't understand that 'no' really does mean 'no', then they get the door closed on them pretty quickly.
  • Just a thought about the cashpoint and you can give to some charities.

Better to pop it in an envelope an get gift aid, instead of wasting that 25p. I used to pop mine into the RBL tins every year, til I realised this, and have done it in a gift aid envelope since.

As a voluntary fundraiser for charity, in no way would I ever knock on people's door. Many, many people would find saying no embarrassing. I myself now give to what charities I can, but have had problems in the past giving to much to charities (ie going over my overdraft limit), because mental health problems mean I get overly depressed about all the suffering in the world, and would love to help alleviate it.

Given the number of people who do suffer depression, bi-polar etc (cant remember how many out of 10), there's a lot of vulnerable people out there.

No matter what the cause, charities on doorsteps should be a no-no.
