We're doing the same. We've borrowed a cloak from a friend, but it really is just a bit of fabric with a brooch type thing sewn on to hold the edges together around the neck.

I was going to sew some fake ermine type fur on, but I'm not going to be too ambitious because it's too hot for them to wear much!

  • Tell the school you're a republican, anti monarchist and your children aren't going to dress like the Queen as it goes against your principles!

Fruit gums make excellent 'jewels' - unfortunately inedible if you glue them onto cardboard crowns!

not if you used some royal icing to glue them, my hubby would be most upset at the waste of perfectly good fruit gums

Personally I'd just keep it simple and dress them in a party dress and make a crown. Don't get stressed it won't be perfect, my experience of school dress ups is that the kids are either in shop bought fancy dress costumes or normal clothes that loosely fit the theme.

    Hope that helps! :)
