Meal planning is a lifesaver. It means I can plan a major shop once a month and buy top ups of veg, milk etc. There is a thread which gives ideas for REALLY cheap meals and it can reduce the bills by a major amount. I also measure amounts as it helps to keep things under control. If I make double I take it out first or there will not be enough for a meal - experience!!!:rotfl:0 -
There are 8 of us (2 adults & 6 kids - some foster kids - 3,5,5,6,10 & 11), I guess I spend about £200 every 10 days or so - I get a local veg box delivered every week, buy UK produced organic or free range meat & poultry (and game when in season) - always cook from scratch.
I tend to buy in bulk when things are on offer.
I NEVER buy ready made stuff and ALWAYS cook from scratch (Just made Hot Cross Buns) and compost / wormery waste that can't be re-cooked.
I do have one vegie in the house (11) so will also be providing a veg option where needed.
Our Main meals for the coming week are...
Today - Steak (Birthday Pressie) with a Rocket and Baby Leaf Salad, Charlotte Pots
Sunday - Roast Leg of Lamb, Roast Pots, Pan fried Carrots, Kale, Snips etc
Monday - H/M Pasta & H/M Mascapone & Tom Sauce
Tuesday - Pasties (Left over Lamb) & Salad
Wednesday - H/M Chicken Pie (2 Breasts for 8 people) & Veg
Thursday - H/M Spag Bol & Salad
Friday - H/M Pizza & Salad
Sat - All day breakfast
Any suggestions on how I can cut back?0 -
