    Evening all

I haven't menu planned at all this weekend as I've been out of the house for most of it, but I'm making my list up now and killing two birds with one stone...

    Tonight was: Lamb roast
Mon: Shepherds pie (totally free as everything is left over from roast, even got a crunchy mash topping from the left over roasties!!)
    Tues: Chicken and bacon stirfry
    Wed: Chicken tortillas
Thurs: Left over "chicken tortilla stirfry'
    Fri: HM Burger and chips
    Sat: Sausage and chips

Can you tell I'm trying to 'make do' this week as I bought nothing in the over the w/e and am over budget anyway? :o

All this while I'm eating 2 slices of wholemeal seeded toast, 2 chicken balls with sweet and sour sauce, and drinking an alcohol free Cobra beer. Can you tell I'm pregnant? :rotfl: Might also explain away the chicken and bacon stir fry brainwave :rotfl:

Oh this is going to be a horrible week as it is. My cupboards are full to the brim but I haven't managed to do any meal plans yet.

Will be back soon with them.

    Wed: Noodles

This is my third week of meal planning and I wish I'd have done it sooner! When I mentioned it to dh he wasn't that keen but now hes loving having something different every night. I try and change it about so we aren't eating the same kind of things night after night, its just for me and dh, ds is too little yet. Its also saving me a fortune and I've found a fab local butcher and veg shop. I've got most of the stuff in, just need to get some fresh meat. This week its

Mon: HM quiche, jacket potatoes and beans (will bake some cookies and jam tarts whilst ovens on)
Teus: Beef stew/casserole thing done in SC, potatoes and veg
Weds: Oven chips, HM chicken pies and mushy peas
Thurs: Mums but it will be meat and 2 veg type meal
Fri: Pasta and HM mince bolgense (sort of) sauce done in SC
    Sat: Takeaway treat
    Sun: Out for mothers day

Lunch will be HM soup or sandwichs plus stuff to get our 5 a day :A

My second week at menu planning and what a difference it makes.
I am soooooo unorganised, but last week it all went to plan and was easy, the hard part was remembering to take what I needed out of the freezer each night!

    Monday :

haddock with a crunchy topping (made from 3oz breadcrumbs, 1oz cheese grated, 1 tbs olive oil, some herbs in fridge (corriander) and 1 teaspoon of corse mustard. Wizz all up in mixer and put on top of fish baked in oven). Serving with runner beans and wedges. Just put it in oven and can smell it cooking :)

    Tuesday :

Spag bol with salad and garlic bread. Made batches of bol sauce last week to freeze.

    Wednesday :

Out to a Turkish restaurant for a meal.

    Thursday :

Lamb chops, parsnip chips, and savoury rice

    Friday :

Beef curry, salad and cous-cous, nann breads/chapattis (which ever I feel like making on the day)

    Saturday:

Lamb shanks in slow cooker with veg and bulgar wheat.

    Sunday:

??? Don't know its Mother's day so probably get taken out.

Good luck to everyone that like me is new to the menu planning.

I'd like to join in this week please, because I really want to start trying to menu plan every week. Mr P and I both started new jobs this year with longer hours and we have really struggled to resist falling into the "lets get a takeaway because its late and we can't be bothered to cook..." trap - and we need to, both for money-saving and waist-saving reasons.

Anyway, I'm posting this week's plan starting yesterday (because I planned it on Saturday, but didn't see this post until now, and I'm so pleased I've stuck to the first two days, so I can't bear to drop them off the list - please humour me...!!:p). So, here goes...

Sunday – Chilli (con carne) pasta with broccoli & sweetcorn
    Monday – Jambalaya
Tuesday – Pasta with roasted courgettes, baby plum tomatoes & boursin
Wednesday – Sausage, mash & onion gravy + veg (Brussels/carrots/peas)
Thursday – Jacket potato with beans & cheese
Friday – Hot Dogs in buns with onions/ketchup/mustard and salad or Pizza and salad
Saturday – Mother’s Day meal (both sets of parents coming over – menu tbc!)
Sunday – Probably a cooked brunch of the "full english breakfast" type and then an “afternoon tea” about 5pm-ish (parents still with us but will be leaving to drive home at about 6-7pm-ish…)
