What do you call a 6 inch bolt?

Silly question, I want some long bolts for sticking through a concrete post and a wooden garden fence, but can't find any on ebay - which is remarkable. These bolts need to be about 6 inches long (not 6 inches wide!)

So I'm guessing that I'm searching for the wrong thing.

Any ideas what search I should do?

try searching in metric, this is how bolts are generally measured now.

    6" is a little more than 150mm.

You probably want a "coach bolt".

Certainly B & Q do a good range of large individual bolts and coach bolts

( coach bolts are bolts with threads that are threaded down to a point like a regular wood screw for screwing into wood )

Have a good hack around on the screwfix website..
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

If you are fixing the wood to the concrete post, try some frame fixings.

These are normally used for fixing doors and window frames into brickwork, but will do the trick.

Drill both the timber and the post and fix through.

Alternatively, expanding through-bolts will do a similar (but more heavy duty) job.

    Usain.

Maybe more than 6 inches though !

I just knew someone would be thinking along those lines, I would have said " a disapointment" :rotfl:

On a serious note go with coach bolts as others have said, avoid frame fixers as it makes life difficult if you ever want to remove the panels for access or treatment etc, ;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
