Funding for a 2nd Degree, this time in Nursing

Hi there!
So I've read a couple of similar situations through the forum, although as I feel this is slightly different I want to get some personal responses.
Basically, girlfriend is 22, and has been accepted for interview at Coventry University to do a degree in General Nursing. It's her second degree (first one was in Costume Design and Making but unfortunately there was too few jobs for it) and it seems she's a natural when dealing with patients, general bedcare etc from years of doing care work and rcently working in a hospital.
Anyway, what funding could we possibly get for her? She lives with me, and I'm in a good job on about 30k salary. I'm aware I'll get a council tax cut as she'll be a student. She'll apply for a bursary and we know she'll get fee's paid for.
But are there any other sources? Particularly grants?or other bursaries or scholarships that could be available?
I was going to look on this website as I was sure I've stumbled on a section for grants but can't find it! Otherwise I know another option is a PCDL, but this will naturally be expensive (I know.. I'm paying mine back now!)
Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

Definitely not a PCDL.0 -
She can get a reduced loan from SFE: http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/UniversityAndHigherEducation/StudentFinance/Typesoffinance/dg_171537
I take it you live together? If so your income will mean she won't get very much from the bursary, so you might have to do a bit of budgeting. 30K plus the extra from the loan and grant should be plenty to support two people.
If she's currently working at a hospital she could ask if they ever offer secondments, but these are pretty rare nowadays.0 -
With your income she won't get much.
If she isn't already get her to sign up the bank at your local hospital ASAP. If she leaves it till she's a 1st year they may not take her. If she does it as a non student HCA she's got more chance of getting on it.0 -
Agreed with above reply, tell her to sign up to several local hospitals staff bank as an HCA, I know a few nursing students who do this. Plus it's great experience.
Sorry I know nothing about the funding side of things!0 -
Hi,
Your girlfriend will be entitled to a means tested bursay for my degree it is £2500, although due to your income she will not be entitled to this.
She will be entitled to apply for a student loan of £2400 per yr for yr 1 and 2 but for some reason in year 3 this reduces to £1800.
I am a single parent and student nurse, I agree with the above of getting a job on the temp/ bank staff at a local hospital, it gives you a wealth of experience, I also just work on a Sunday when you get paid nearly £12 per hour. Although if they know you are a student nurse they only allow you to do 10 hours work per week due to EU working hours. As the degree is full time though I do not get much time to work anyway!
Sorry if it is not what you wanted to hear but there will be no bursaries or other financial support throughout the degree other than the loan and a single council tax rate for you.Mort July 2008 £65000..Mortgage July 2010 £63848
Mortgage June 2012 £54500:T chip chipping away.0
