Can someone please help me to NOT throw my HTC CchaCha across the room!
Argh, it's been driving me insane for about a week now.
For some reason, the phone automatically goes to speakerphone when I answer a call. On the home screen, the car symbol is always there. I assume this is what is prompting the speaker to come on. But when I select to remove the car option, it just comes back.
I have looked in the settings and can't find anything to stop this. I have also looked in the manual, but can't see anything about it.
Can someone savvy please tell me how to stop this happening?

If you open the Car Home app from the notification bar, you should just be able to quit it and all will be back to normal.0

I remember reading that this was a common problem. Cleaning the USB port reportedly solved it in many cases (battery is better to be removed when cleaning).0

Argh - nothing works with this stupid phone!
I have tried loads of times to cancel the Car Mode setting. It just goes straight back onto it.
I have selected Kill All Apps from the Task Killer - nothing.
I have tried cleaning the USB port - nothing.
Today, my husband took the phone into the Three shop and asked them to try and sort it. They turned it off, took the SIM out, turned it back on and let it boot up. Turned it back off and reinserted the SIM and turned it back on again. It said "you are in CAR mode. do you want to switch it off". The assistant selected yes, and that was it.
Fixed?
Nope. It now goes to speakerphone when I MAKE a call now as well as when I answer one.
I have searched the settings and cannot see how to switch stupid car mode off.
Am I right in thinking that if I ring Three they have a "do you need help with your handset" option to select? (I assume I will have to wait until Monday for this kind of assistance?)0 -
This happened to me for about a week some time ago. I researched everywhere - and it had to do with the USB port at the bottom being dusty and containing pocket debris (I keep the phone in the same pocket as my cigarettes - so bits of tobacco and pocket fluff were in there)
I would advise that you should attempt to remove any debris from the socket and blow away any dust from within the device. If you have one of those compressed air aerosols - that would probably work a dream.
Hope this helps! Was a nightmare when happened to me!Home life ceases to be free and beautiful as soon as it is founded on borrowing and debt - Henrik Ibsen0 -
Do you ever want car mode to work? if not you could always disable the app.
It involves a bit of tinkering, though.0 -
take it back and get another?0
