So much for 100 people applying for 1 job

The school where I work, had a job advertised for a p/t manager/receptionist of the performing arts centre. Not 1 person applied for it. In the end they had to employ a couple of 6th formers.

Where is the job and where did they advertise it?
As always things are compounded by distribution of jobs -v- people -v- skills etc.0 -

Also, what were the requirements (person specification), hours and pay etc.
There is too little details in your post, and possibly unfair to infer that people out there do not want to work.
eg. if you advertised this job in your local shop window for somebody with very specific qualifications and experience to work for 2 hours every other Thursday for minimum wage then you may struggle !0 -
They only advertised it in the local paper.0

"Part Time Manager/Receptionist" says it all really!
So a jack of all trades role probably with a list of duties as long as your arm - what was the remuneration by the way? - hopefully commensurate with a managerial position. As the role went to 'a couple of sixth formers', somehow I doubt it!
One job advertised - but two people doing it now!
Hmmmmm!
Just to add - where Mrs DD works, (Higher Education Establishment) there was a job recently advertised for a Weekend Porter (night shift) - I can assure you they were inundated with applications - well over a hundred.0 -
Based near me?? If not can I work from home?
I'll apply for it!0 -

It was shared receptionist/management role. They already have another manager there, but they wanted to some else to cut down the other persons hours. The two doing are splitting it between them. It was more to do with running the private hirings during the evenings and weekends.Based near me?? If not can I work from home?
I'll apply for it!
Not quite no about 100 miles from you, and I don't think you could of worked from home.0 -
Surely you are either a manager or a receptionist! 2 completely different skill sets and levels. Hence - no applications as the job role hasn't been assessed properly. If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0

What is the reputation of the place.
I know some schools no one would want to work there. if they were to advertise localy they would get no one, outsiders would not know.
Advert probably poor were hours, pay, duties specified?0 -
Is it unsocial hours?0

My son applied for a job, out of eight people that were supposed to attend only three showed up. One of those three was late. Suits me, my son has a better chance of getting the job.0
