My version is a bit different. Bell jar in cupboard at work. Scamble it when needed. It is carried by Thunderbirds 2, complete with music (in my head at least). But as I'm a bit claustrophobic I drop it on the negative person and just block them out rather than trapping me in.

TBH it really works for me as it makes me giggle every time so I'm not as affected by the negativity.

If you try my version just be careful it doesn't accidentally clock them one on the head as it's being lowered :rotfl:.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

    Happy New Year :)
Sorry to hear things are rough with the neighbours
I did remember GGs idea having something to do with thunderbirds, but she has explained it much better than my attempt would have been!! :rotfl:

Here is to a healthy and happy 2013!

Thanks so much for the idea. It is actually working for me! I feel a lot more confident leaving the house. One time I actually approached the house and thought 'oh no, I've forgotten my imaginary jar'! doh, how can you forget an imaginary jar?? Anyway, she has gone to stay with her mum for a while I hear, which is a mixed blessing as her mum also has the same mental illness and can make things worse.

Last time this kind of thing happened to someone else, and her partner told us that she had stopped taking her medication.

My plan is just to try to completely ignore her, discreetly avoid the children playing together (they don't anyway really) and use the negatives as a positive.

She shouts really personal things to me and about me to other neighbours, and one thing that would hurt me is if she said stuff about my weight, but the thought of her doing this, and how angry I would feel, makes me want to lose weight even more, and is really spurring me on! I am slowly swapping everything in the house for their low fat low carb version, and getting more exercise, and I think its working slowly.

Anyway, I have managed to take the boys out each day for a lovely wander about, and I have also given the house a big deep clean. This was quite hard on ds2 though, as he got a bit bored, so I am going to try to do one cleaning task per day rather than let it build up.

    Today I need to:

    - go to Church and book bapitism
    - take boys out for fresh air
    - ebay 0-3months clothes as ds2 has grown out of already
    - do some work on oh business.

And of course, enjoy the lovely simple things that are on offer, like friendship and cuddles and kisses from my family.

  • Well done, you are a very determined person so I am sure you will lose the weight very soon. Have a great year,

Had a bit of a bleurg day today and as a result I have eaten a bag of chocolate snowballs :( oh well a few blips here and there are going to happen as long as I get straight back on the diet bandwagon tomorrow.

To try to get my head to make a positive of the negative and return to my normal sunny disposition:

    1
The other driver of the small tiny miniscule bump I was involved in has put a medical and car damage claim in to my insurance company despite there being absolutely no damage and us both agreeing this at the time - the bump was about 1 mile per hour - so it is completely made up. I am so angry.

    Positive:
-About 8 days before I had renewed my car insurance so don't have to apply saying I have on ongoing claim
    - I protected my 9 years no claims discount.
    -I have photos
-the insurance company will fight the claim. They think its a 50 /50 accident, and a fraudulent claim.
    - I have been paying a lot more attention and keeping my distance from other drivers since.

    2

Baby was sick all over me and him-

Positive - it can all be washed! Nothing to worry about.

    3
    DS1 fell down the stairs

Positive - no bones broken and he will be more careful about the stairs now.
I got lots of cuddles and kisses today.

All of that happened within a few hours so I guess it got me a bit harassed. There is nothing to worry about really and I need to just focus on the things I can control - enjoying the days wth my family, saving money so I don't have to work, and keeping the house clean and clutter free so we have time here to save up the money to move.

Mentally ill neigbour seems to have gone away on holiday, which will give me a breather for a few days!!

  • Hi, what a complete b£gger with the car accident. There's always some waiting to try it on.

The 'loads of cuddles' more tan makes up for it :T

    Just a quick update.

DS2 has got infected ezcema on his poor cheeks so we have been giving him medecin, he is getting better.

We have been playing out a lot in the snow, and generally spending lots of time as a family.

I have been thinking about becoming a SAHM completely, and not saving up for the next mortgage - putting it on hold for a while. It just seems so wrong to pay someone else to look after my children whilst I work when I actually want to look after them. We will see.

Anyway, I am trying to stick to a 2 week food budget of £80 all in, including nappies and toiletries. So far I have spent £38 at @ldis but our cupboards are bursting, and I have meal plans for it all!

Feeling more organised, I just need to do a proper budget for everything in the household so I can make some decisions.

We had exactly the same thing before Xmas - the other driver had even phoned me to ask if he could fix my car as his insurance would go sky high next year. I said no as my repairs were slightly more than 'minor'. A week later I received a claim for whiplash from him! It wouldn't have crossed my mind to even think of claiming.

    hi there,
this is a decision I can't get my head around at the moment. I'm early twenties and have £100k saved so can buy a house in the area where I live. I like the feeling that I can do this and will never have to pay rent or mortgage payments unless I want a bigger house.

But what I now can't decide is do I go for a proper career (I got top grades at school) eg dentist or engineer, or do I just "get by" with a part time job and live a much simpler life with lots more free time.

The free things are definitely what make me happy, I'm not interested in having a posh car or designer clothes. I enjoy going to bed with a full stomach, cosy bed, having a lie in, cups of tea, walks round the park etc etc.
