Fantastic amount of savings, especially on Mat leave.
Only just seen this thread randomly but you seem really happy at home with the boys.

snuggles on the sofa are the highlight of most of my days too!
I was going to ask you how you deal with slugs with your veggies? I'd really like to give growing another go next year but I get so fed up with everything being scoffed!Updating soon...0 -
I use a trail of crunched up egg shells around my entire crop of lettuce for example, the slugs hate the sharp pointy bits. It also takes no effort! gowing your own definately saves us money and I need to do more next year.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Just wrote a really long post only to lose it on my mums old laptop
We are enjoying a pre christmas weekend at my mums as she is away for the big day.
Lots of cosy chats and relaxing, but not much else really.
Paid £5 for ds1 hair cut - more than mine! Might see if they will do it at the college.
Starting to think about my priorities for 2013. I definately want to lose this baby wieght, declutter the house and save another big chunk of my £150,000 target. I am not sure how much to set as I am on mat leave for 9 months of 2013 then hopefully working part time. I might also have to pay for another degree as well.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Belated CHristmas wishes to all x
Enjoying a couple of days at MILs which always makes me determined to save for the future. That's what they did and now live in a lovely little bungalow on the beach. The house is really quite smile but the quality of life it offers is brilliant and really spurs me on to save for our future.15/5/12 Paid off Mortgage 1 (£220k) Bought Dream House:www: Dec 13 - Mortage 2 -£116,508. 15/7/18 Mortgage Free Again :j

Hi earthgirl
Sorry I haven't posted for ages. I love popping to read of your goals and ideas for a simpler life as I'm moving in a similar direction. Reading your aims and progress really spurs me on x2019 fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons0 -
Hi all,
Despite my normally happy outlook, I have had a bad run of things the last few days. I bumped someone in my car - completely my fault I just wasn't paying attention (however no damage done to either car so I got off lightly) I also got a private parking ticket today £60, and we have been falling out with the neighbours on one side. She has mental health issues and shouts at us and does odd things, but she really upset me today and I suppose that this has framed my thinking for what I'd like to achieve in 2013.
I'd like to maintain my own and my families happiness by continuing to live simply and appreciating the good things in our life.
Ditto with our health - I'd like to make healthy living a focus this year.
I'd also like to not spend my time or thoughts on things that make me unhappy - almost cut those things out of my life.
Finally, I'd like to save another £30,000 towards my next mortgage. This would make my total over £80,000 and would really mean a step up when we decide we want to buy or get a buy to let.
How I am going to do these things I will think about and post here again.
One thing I am not going to tolerate is being shouted at by the neighbours in front of the children. I will just ignore them and walk away as I can't really think of another solution at the moment!!
Anyway I love this board at new year as everybody has lots of exciting things that they are planning for the year and I find it infectious!!
Best wishes for 2013 everyone!!

Hi EarthGirl, Happy New Year to you and sorry to hear about the neighbour. I always think GGs glass bell jar is a good idea. I know she's posted it on someone's diary, but no doubt she'll pop by an explain more.
Your plans for 2013 sound excellent and that's a lot of cash to save in a year :T
